Steve Ma portrayed as is a historical figure, a Manchu leader called “NURHACHI ”(1559-September 30,1626), father of Emperor Haung Taiji & Regent Prince Dorgon (November 16, 1612 - December 31, 1650.....Steve’s character from Xiao Zhaung Eipc/Xiao Zhaung Mi Shi/The Secret History of Qing Dynasty 2003) and great great grand father of Haung Tai Zi (steve’s character from Prince Epic/The Secret of Royal 2004). In this seires, steve's character Nuerhachi/Nurhaci life will span from his youth-hood to elderly manhood.

I agree that Steve & Maggie have no chemistry at all. In fact, all the scenes of Maggie & Lok Ping, I fast forward them.

Lok Ping? Was he steve's army fella? He portrayed as steve's best buddie/brotherhood in Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? 1998. I liked his character in there (one of my fav.)

Can't blame ya if you fast forward their scenes! : Maggie Siu was very cute in HSDS 86. She lost her weight like steve did in there!! Anyway my main motivation in is steve & amy's scenes.

Here’s one more fan of MJT who can’t read Chinese too so thanks to ejc for posting all the info and pix. I was trying to learn Mandarin by watching Chinese movies when I came across him, now he makes my lessons so much more interesting

hahah....that's the way I've learnt chinese. Mandarin & triditional chinese - elementary level, cantonese & simplified chinese - beginner!!! Chinese seems more complicated!!!

The pix and everything are so nice. The costumes are beautiful too. VIvien, Jin Qiao Qiao, Steve and everyone look great. I hope this series is accurate to history since I hate series that try to re-write history to the point that it is ridiculous.

I think she can since she knows Kent Tong who works there. I heard awhile ago that ATV fired her because she acted in a China production without their permission. Then they re-hired her awhile ago, but she was only in supporting roles. BUt then I haven't seen or heard about her for awhile... I wonder if she will make a come back or not??

Her songs released on CDs since mid or late 90’s but wasn't very successful. I heard her singing in “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? 1998” (the one w/ Steve Ma, Alyssa Cha?)…She sang the theme songs....well the opening theme was actually sung by the casts…..starting from Steve’s voice. Yes, I think she has a beautiful voice.

That’s my pleasure. Have you seen the promotional video clips? It looks great. Do you know about Nuerhachi's & his personal life? I've read encyclopedia of Nurhachi and his sons Dorgon & Haung Tai Ji from worldhistory.com. Also read some related articles on the net but those articles little mention about their personal lives. Hope it would follow the history though there might be some fictional plots I reckon…..without this; storyline would be much more like a documentary rather than an entertainment series.

If you expect onscreen chemistry of Steve & Vivian, I don’t think they would have much couple screen time. Vivian’s character love interest wasn’t steve’s character. Her lover was Steve’s younger brother but she eventually loves him. Actually the promotional clips revealed the plots already esp the narrator has told us Nurhachi’s private life. Like their costumes!!

Nope, the singer I mentioned in my previous post was Vivian Chen De Rong. She has a beautiful voice. Amy Chan is a great singer as well as a great actress. Yes, many believe that Steve and Amy are a great onscreen couple. But I found that many of steve fans have polled that Vivian is his most compatible co-stars.

I heard that Erica featured in Innocently Guilty 2001? as a special appearance. I saw her pics....very pretty!! I really miss her. I hope she would come back with Steve again as they were in ATV Justice Pao 1995. I think they made a perfect match in that series.

Looks like many of us here enjoy watching Steve and his co-stars without knowing who they are. That’s the price we pay for not learning Mandarin!

I’ve seen one series in which Steve acted and thought the actresses were quite good. He played a two-timing husband with a pretty mistress. There was another younger actress who played dual roles – initially a decent and later a misguided young woman who became interested in Steve though he had become blind in an accident. I think it was a Taiwanese production.

2 actresses are from China. The elder one is the wife of the director of that series. The girl Steve holding hands is a Taiwanese actress Vivian Chen De Rong.
