Synopsis
Monty had a grudge against Mike and the Demon Cult for what had happened to Drake. Monty did not know all of the Sword Palm, which is why he always lost to Mike, but he discovered where the rest of it was; it was in the possession of the Demon Cult. He got Isaac to seduce Tracy into stealing the rest of the Sword Palm. After Monty completed the Sword Palm he challenged Mike again. Although the fight was very close, Monty lost again. However, Mike was mortally wounded, and was suspicious of Monty’s recent improvement. He relayed these suspicions to his followers, who began to investigate, and they eventually learned the truth. Mike died soon after, which devastated Tracy. Isaac had actually fallen for Tracy, and he convinced her to run away with him. Unbeknownst to Isaac, Tracy decided to steal the Demon Magic manual when she left. The other cult members were afraid Monty would get his hands on the manual, so they had to stop her. Will happened on the scene as the couple and the cult faced off, and although he could sympathize with Tracy he had to side with the cult because he knew how dangerous the manual could be in the wrong hands. Isaac was accidentally killed when he chose to fight instead of surrender. They recovered the manual, but Tracy was so upset that she ran away and swore revenge on Shaolin and the cult. Monty eventually found out about Mike’s death and proceeded to try and destroy the cult. Without Mike, the cult was too weak to defend itself, so they had to ask Will for help. It took both Will and Phil to stop Monty, who was forced to abandon his quest for now. However, the cult’s martial arts status was now in peril, so they turned to Ray, a good friend of the Demon Cult. Ray agreed to become the temporary leader and moved into the cult compound. Shortly thereafter, Carl came to visit with his family, who were very close with Ray’s family. Their kids, Kate and Leo, had gotten along well when they were children, but now there was some tension as young adults. In the meantime, Tracy tried to learn as much martial arts as she could, but she still could not defeat the cult members. She even tried to steal the Demon Magic manual again, but failed. Aaron was a compulsive gambler who was saved by Carl when some very nasty individuals called his debt. Carl felt sorry because Aaron had been an abandoned orphan, like himself, and took Aaron in as a student. Aaron quickly developed a crush on Kate. Unfortunately, Kate and Leo revealed that they liked each other, and their parents approved, which was acceptable in those days. Aaron tried to stand in the way of their relationship, but was not very successful. Aaron was also frustrated at how much better Leo was compared to his own martial arts skills. But Carl refused to accelerate his training, so Aaron decided to steal what he could not have. He snuck into the library at night and stole the Iron Grip manual, which was forbidden to learn because of its inherently evil aspects. After studying the Iron Grip for a while, Aaron beat Leo on their next sparring match, but Kate still preferred Leo. Leo became suspicious about Aaron’s improvements, and although Kate was not sure, she agreed to help Leo find out. The two came up with a plan. They pretended to produce the Empty Wind manual, Carl’s martial arts, which in reality did not exist. Aaron, being greedy as he was, decided to steal it and was caught. It was lucky that Carl and Ray were there because Kate and Leo were no longer a match for Aaron. However, Carl could not bring himself to harm Aaron, so only expelled him. Meanwhile, Tracy had ended up at the Flower Maiden Society in the hopes of enlisting their help to destroy the cult. Lois refused to help Tracy fight the cult, but offered her sanctuary. Monty was actually following the situation closely, and saw an opportunity to cause trouble. He lured Lois away and killed her, and then he blamed it on the cult. This gave the society a reason to attack. However, Monty did not know that Jessica was the daughter of the previous leader of the society, who was well respected among its seniors. Even though Ray was more than able to protect the cult, Jessica convinced the society to stop its attack. Tracy was angry at the result and left the society to try and find another way to destroy the cult. She subsequently ran into Monty, who proceeded to tell her that the only martial art that could defeat Shaolin or the Demon Cult now was the Taoist. Tracy went there, not knowing that Monty had already sent Randy ahead. The Taoist society was in some disarray after the death of their leader because there was no worthy successor. Under Monty’s orders, Randy was able to steal a part of the Taoist martial arts, the Tiger Claw. He delivered it to Tracy by dressing up as a Toaist and allowing himself to be defeated. She spent over a year practicing the part of the manual she could understand, and returned to take her revenge. Tracy first fought with Will and was able to defeat him because he was already quite old and had been injured from a previous match with Phil. She left Will for dead and then went on to the cult compound. But Monty had other ideas. Monty had recruited Aaron a while back and took the opportunity to have him sneak back into the compound and poison the cult’s food and water. When Tracy got there, she met with little resistance, and discovered their predicament. Although she still wanted revenge, Debra and Jessica convinced her to spare everyone until they could recover. Meanwhile, Monty was on his way to finish them off himself. Phil found Will mortally wounded, but Will asked Phil to go and help the cult. Along the way, Phil ran into Monty’s party and realized the danger coming. Phil tried to stop Monty himself, but he could only manage to slow him down after being seriously injured. However, Phil was able to arrive at the cult compound and warn the others. Phil’s injuries were quite severe, so he had to leave and seek immediate medical attention. Kate and Leo had not been poisoned because they were away when it happened, so Ray told them to go back to his home and get the legendary Silver Sword, which had been given to him by Rick for safekeeping. While they were gone, Monty arrived. Initially, Aaron and Randy challenged Ray and Carl to a fight, knowing that the older men were too sick to win. Fortunately, Kate and Leo arrived in time to help take on Aaron and Randy instead. They won with help from Carl and Ray. Tracy had chosen to stay out of the confrontation in the beginning, but after seeing Randy fight she had a burning question. Why were his skills so similar to Isaac’s? She soon discovered that Isaac had been working for Monty at the time of his death, and Isaac’s decision to run away with her went against Monty’s wishes, which is why Monty had leaked the truth about Isaac to the cult, and how the cult managed to stop their elopement. Mike had made all the cult members swear never to tell Tracy the secret about Isaac, because he loved his daughter and wanted her to be happy, even after his death. The cult would have let Tracy and Isaac go, except that she stole the Demon Magic manual. With this realization, Tracy challenged Monty to a duel. At first she was losing unconditionally, until Carl gave her the Silver Sword. With some sage advice, Tracy was able to beat Monty, and ultimately killed him. Her revenge completed, Tracy gave up her crusade against the cult. Will arrived the next day. Although he had been dying, Will was miraculously saved. Tracy gave Will the Tiger Claw manual she had absconded, which he then gave to a helper monk that he had come with him. Tracy then returned to the Flower Maiden Society and became their leader, with Jessica’s recommendation. Kate and Leo were wed some time afterward.
