You have a rather large gap between "Greats will catch him" and "Sweeper can't catch him". Besides, DY and XZ are more than a bit above the Greats.

I'd think that even Greats would have trouble against DFBB.

If you asked me, I would think DFBB is faster than Xiao Feng, ROCH Greats and even XZ/DY. Only Sweeper would be the exception.

the Greats have demonstrated similar speed as DFBB in singular movements, but they have not demonstrated the ability to keep up the speed for a long time a la Dongfang; that is the main difference I see between them.

Dugu QiuBai, Sweeper monk and Huang Shang shouldn't have problem defeating him/her. However, it would be hard for Kwok Jing, Yeung Gor, the greats, Cheung Mo Gei, Kiu Fung to defeat him/her. It's like 50-50 chance.

Supermonk might be outpaced by Dongfang but that doesn't matter as he would just crush her with the force field.

DFBB is at least as fast as DY's loach type movements at the end og DGSD. he is not faster then a bullet unless the greats are fast enough to catch a bullet since LHC with less then great speed can block.

    Hi everyone,

Found this cute forum while Googling for some stuff. Reading through some of the posts really cracked me up, so here I am!

Not sure if I am right, but seems to me DFBB's Kuihua skill emphasizes speed above all else. Since this may not be the emphasis for other exponents, the logical conclusion is probably that DFBB is faster than most other experts, but not so supremely fast like a bullet.

Having said that, speed is obviously an advantage in fighting, but in itself I think it probably doesn't guarantee victory.

She was fast enough but I always doubt how long she would last.

RWX and LHC were panting with the strain later into the fight but DFBB kept up the speed and did not seem exhausted at all.

Overall, with the 3rd edition minor re-wording, DFBB appeared to have huge inner energy in addition to insane speed.

LPZ who also learnt BXJF was extremely fast but had mediocre inner power. YBQ also gained great speed through BXJF but he still used his 'divine art of violet twilight' inner power. DFBB was nearly at RWX's level before learning sunflower sutra. his inner power level might not be due to sunflower sutra but his other skills. sunflower sutra contains high level martial arts theories but the inner power techniques are unorthodox and might not necessarily lead to huge gains in inner power. having a huge inner power will help with endurance and even without sunflower sutra, if you have great level inner power, you can move at extreme speed, through it will consume a great deal of inner power. sunflower sutra specialty seems to allow you to move fast with little inner power consumed.

DFBB also had over 10 years to practice the sunflower manual while LPZ and YBQ only had months. It's hard to compare between them and DFBB

Most people who practice combative Martial Arts aim for speed, accuracy and strength/aggression, roughly in that order. So yes speed is very important. It is by no means the be all and end all of Martial Arts but it is definitely vital.

As for the context of Wuxia and more specifically SPW, speed does seem like the trump card. DFBB technique was inferior to LHC and internal was only just above RWX, yet his blinding speed was enough to defeat them combined.

We can even find examples of speed allowing someone to overcome superior strength and technique, like how YBQ defeated ZLC despite having inferior strength and skill.
