Default We've said Yeung Teet Sum was an idiot for not doing this, but maybe....

We've often said that Yeung Teet Sum was an idiot for searching around blindly for his wife and son and the wife and son of his sworn brother, Gwok Siu Teen, for eighteen years when he could have just gone to Mt. Chung Nam and asked Yau Chui Gei at the Chung Yeung Temple.

Then again, why would he even think about doing that? By the time that the Yeung/Gwok home in Ox Village was attacked by Deun Teen Dak's Sung troops, Yau Chui Gei had been long gone. Yes, Yau Chui Gei returned later and found out what happened at Ox Village, but Yeung Teet Sum would not have known that. As far as Yeung Teet Sum was concerned, Yau Chui Gei left Ox Village after that night they spent drinking together and never returned...and never would have known anything about what went down in Ox Village.

So perhaps we've been a bit unfair to Yeung Teet Sum?

Yes, but Chun Jun sect was fairly big at the time. Surely if he went to Mount Chong Nam, Yau Chu Gei could have aided him in his search.

Perhaps, it is better to ask those "Beggar Union" for a help. They have more people around the country!

But he knew Qiu Chu Ji, he did not know any members of the Beggar Union. Sure, they 'might' have helped him out anyway, but it would've been easier to get QZ sect than the Beggars.

Even if he didn't think Qiu knew about the incident, that would still be the first place to go instead of wandering around for 18 years. So, yea, he is still an idiot for not going to QZ sect.

At the time, Yeung Teet Sum was hiding out in the Jin territories because he was a wanted fugitive in the Sung Kingdom. Mt. Chung Nam was, at that time, also within the borders of the Jin Empire. How free was Yeung Teet Sum to travel within the Jin Empire? I don't think he was fugitive there. Could he safely travel to Mt. Chung Nam without fear of capture?

He probably wouldn't have found him, but the thing is, it never even occurred to him to try.
