Doesn't really matter. As long as the plot is good, and the acting is that horrible, I'll probably be interested.

It depends whether it's a movie and TV series.

For movies, I like romantic comedy but for TV series, I like a very good suspense/detective type with a touch of romance between the leading characters like DIF I & II.

I really can`t decide between action and adventure vs. comedy.

depends on what mood i'm in.
but i'm interested in movies that makes you guess what's next or an ending that you least expect something like mulholland drive or dragonfly.

Sci-fi/Fantasy (including Chinese wuxia) are my favorite because they don't take place in our world.

ROMANCE of course. but yea, sometimes the storylines are sooo outragous. "oh yu have cancer? okay let me give yu my heart."
but comedy and action movies arent far behind. and yeaaaa chick flicks!

id watch anything as long as the characters are interesting...of course the plot has to be a good one to...but i've realised that i watch more for the characters than for the story...

eg. saiyuki: the story is just catch demons, travel, catch demons, travel...but the characters were so interesting that i love that show very much.

emperor of the sea: story seemed good but characters lacked personality...i find myself getting boref and fastforwarded some scenes...

Of course the IDOLS in the idol series...
    For example:
    The Outsiders - Guo Pinchao
    ISWAK - Joe Cheng
    Meteor Garden - Jerry Yan

With WZBQW I can't really say...heh the guy was pretty ugly! Maybe that's why I read the summary but never saw the series. However, whenever the girl in a story gets leukemia (and has a nose bleed - oh no!) I kind of feel like drilling a hole through the TV screen.

Putting those trite, hackneyed idol series aside, I think romantic comedies best. A little romance to get me teary-eyed but not too mushy and still some humour (preferably wit) in there! I didn't think I'd like sci-fi/fantasy too much...but that includes Heroes, doesn't it? For movies I look for inspirational plots, but with a series I think its ability to make you laugh and cry is important. Otherwise how do you stay interested for a million episodes?

How come you don't have a "supernatural" category?

Fine, I'm too tired to argue about how supernatural won't fit in that category. I'll just choose that one....
