Default MediaCorp Channel 8 to launch new look

MediaCorp TV's Channel 8 will have a new look from Monday.

To introduce the revamp, viewers will be able to catch nine new trailers featuring some 20 MediaCorp artistes.

The trailers, produced over three months, depict the channel's vibrancy and identity.

The channel also hopes to further endear itself to the audience through this revamp.

All three news bulletins on Channel 8 will also have a new look

So it's just a cosmetic change to raise its image but not produce better local dramas or bring in good foreign productions as quickly as possible? I wonder why they bother.

LOL Mediacorp is just going to copy the old Channel U look which is more hip and cool.

They are always changing their image (more slick trailer etc) but WHAT IS THE FARKING POINT since the drama is still so damm poor standard.... :

Always wonder why Mediacorpse don't put their "heart" in producing some really memorable serials which ppl will remember fondly as classics year after

Why bother? esp the news bulletin. since the same things are repeated at different timings. so we see different background each time?

and if they put more effort into producing better quality shows (drama serials) as they do these trailers (3 months for trailers???) perhaps they might be more endearing to viewers.

Yeah. Why bother with changing the image when the programmes and serials are still as boring and bad as ever? Why bother when we are still flooded with Kdramas and dumb Taiwanese idol dramas like crazy.

Forget cheesy dramas... the day local mainstream media gathers the testicular fortitude to scrutinize goverment policies, good or bad, will be the day I convert to a fanboy.

$110 million hard-earned money leeched from 1 million unwilling households and they spend it on packaging?

What's there's to revamp? There's no substance in their programmes in the first place.

What identity? They just clone identical shows all the time.

Just read from New Paper that they're going to re-telecast Dae Jang Geum (yes, that boring show!) again next month. This is the fourth rerun within a year.

Project Superstar (scam show) is coming again. Time to milk more money out of schooling kids. Cannot be helped. The chiak liau bee directors need their year end bonuses, otherwise known as "Peanuts".

Mediacorp is really the disgrace of ALL Singaporeans, showing only 4 World Cup matches, despite them being the only TV station in Singapore, and despite us paying them $110 every year.

    Prepare for "more good years".

The news broadcasts on Channel U are redundant, same news as Channel 8, except different news anchors. Waste of money right? Might as well show CNN news since Singapore news are all filtered and diluted anyway, thus mostly on price hikes in Singapore and whoever committted suicide today.

Yeah they should just have a shared news hour and show the same news anchors.

Mediacorp's too self-absorbed to care about viewer opinions because they don't have competition and they might even believe that all these shows are what we want to see. The dramas bore me to death. I can't even remember when I last watched a local production (it must have been Wisely starring Zoe Tay and Tao Dayu?).

Even the TVB dramas they show are just the same as those on cable, just that its telecast many months later.

    A new look?

Well, you can change the image but if the inside remains rotten, it'll be rotten. Period.

WE singaporeans demand better quality, better plot, less family oriented series!!!

what? they are doing it AGAIN?? wow.. so much originality...

and i read the chinese papers yesterday (10/7) that there is lots of dissent surrounding the apparent lack of WC matches (4?? so pathetic la...) cos according to FIFA, crucial matches like the opening, semis and the final is supposed to be telecast on 'free to air' channels. so there is actually an obligation to telecast them!!

sigh. anyway WC is over. hope this doesnt continue for 2010.
