So speculation is sort of a mainstay of this board - 'What if ZSF had got the Dragon Sabre from his disciple,' 'What if Yang Tiexin hadn't commited suicide?' 'What if ZWJ hadn't found the manual', 'How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?' and so forth - some of which move further from the plot than others.

This is sort of a 'creative exercise' or 'game'. Essentially, pick a story and make a 'what if' from it, but phrase it as a sort of 'blurb' for the book that would result or the story that would be told instead. The only real 'rule' is that the story should be one with some conflict - "what if everyone got along and took up tennis instead of martial arts" would produce a wulin that might not merit too much of a novel, for example

So...imagine if YK had paid better attention to his tutors, and what if those tutors had been more capable of raising a disciplined student?

We end up with the story of Wanyan Guo, a master of 9 Yin Divine Claws, Foe-Breaking Palm, Quan Zhen's orthodox internal energy, and others, who is sent into the martial world to quell the crimes of his martial cousin, the murderous Ouyang Fu, who has mastered the martial legacies of both of her grandfathers - Eastern Heretic Huang Yaoshi and Western Poison Ouyang Feng, as well as being courted by the Tomb Sect.

Any takers? This sort of thing is kinda fun, at least by my standards...
