    It makes me kinda sad to see the level of conformity in Korea...styles and trends change all the time - what's beautiful today won't be beautiful in a decade so why waste ur time?

    They should start playing Pink's music video Stupid Girls in Korea...they def. need to hear that message

    But one thing though...Korean guys REALLY do need some surgery; the male celebrities over there are truly HIDEOUS i.e. Bi Rain, Se7en, Andy (Shinwa) etc. lol

    OUCH... well i don't agree with you about the male celebrities being HIDEOUS since many of them are truly adorable and cute ie Song Seung Hun, So Ji Sub, Won Bin, Rain etc. however some of them did have surgery already.

    lol...too bad it seems many ppl find these korean celebs to be rather "sexy". not to mention "single eye lids" & "flat cheeks" are actualy "in" for korean men .

    The guys listed like Rain and Andy, i think they don't have surgery, but even if they don't look"cute" enough, i prefer their natural face and charisma than a plastic dơll's face

    hmmm.....some of these pictures show DRASTIC changes. But, I think we should also take into consideration that photos can easily be fixed to enhance a performer's appearance. (Lighting, airbrush, photoshop etc) Makeup can also transform a person's image magically.

    I think some of the stars here only have their eyes fixed. If you look closely you can see that their nose and mouth are the same. Some of the "before" pictures show the stars when they were pretty young. People do outgrow their noses etc...

    Im only saying this because there are actors out there who are natural but because of poor selections of pix they are accused of having plastic. There are the majority who did have plastics and Im not defending them. No matter what though, i do feel bad for the stars because they are only doing so because the entertainment industry requires them to do so. The stars arent the ones emphazing so much on their looks. Blame the media.

    Korean Men in Grip of Plastic Surgery Craze

    At university, Han was considered a bit of a heartthrob for his good looks, but early this month he nonetheless spent W4 million (US$4,000) on a softer chin. He is one of an increasing number of Korean men who are succumbing to the plastic surgery craze that has gripped the country.

    The clinic asked him if he wanted the looks of celebrities like Jang Dong-gun or Lee Joon-ki, the star of the blockbuster "The King and the Clown", but Han insisted on a chin of his own design. Now embarked on the beautification project, he is considering more sculptural improvements once he has recovered from the operation.

    A growing number of male customers are knocking on the doors of clinics, mostly to make their angular faces smoother and narrower.

    At Dong Yang Plastic Surgery in Seoul's affluent Gangnam district, men now make up 40 percent of customers up from less than 10 percent in 2004. The release of the "The King and the Clown" with its celebration of androgynous beauty led to a steady trickle of at least one or two inquiries every day. The clinic's chief says the surge coincided with the rising fame of handsome actors such as Kang Dong-won, Won Bin and Jang Dong-gun.

    The trend is visible everywhere. At another clinic, men used to account for barely 5 percent of chin surgeries, but the figure began to grow by an annual 10 percent from three or four years ago to 20 percent now. Men's cosmetic surgery is moving from adjusting a feature here and there toward creating a whole new look for face and body. Real for Men, a clinic specializing in plastic surgery for the boys, says nose and eye surgery still takes up the lion's share with some 82 percent, but more men are asking about chins and liposuction.

    The cost is about the same as for women. It costs W4.5 million for a new chin, W2.5-3 million for a nosejob, W1.2-1.5 million for double eyelids, W5 million to reduce cheekbones, W5-7 million for belly and hip liposuction, W5 million for the implant of 2,500 hair follicles and W100,000-120,000 for skin treatment. Alarmingly, more than half of the patients are college students. Jobs that involve contact with clients such as doctors and designers take up 10 percent, office workers 9 percent, conscripts about to be discharged 8 percent and jobseekers 7 percent. Only 5 percent are trying to break into the entertainment business.

    Real for Men chief Lee Sang-eun says the plastic surgery boom among men can be attributed to the emphasis on appearance in society, predicting that a craze for more androgynous looks will continue for the time being.

    that is a sad article. I think that the actors and actress are pressured to look pretty, hot, cute and handsome. But it's their choice to go to that extent as to get plastic surgery done. And also if you think about it, if you have the money and looks matter that much to you, then why not do it? It just show their lack of self cofidence and self-eestem.

    that picture with those two korean chicks and Se7en, the girls look so fake.

    I'm guessing that the stars do all of this because of money. If they look ugly, there'd probably be less fans thus not making as much. Besides, money drives a lot of people these days.

    that's a pretty stupid reason. i believe an actress or actor should be valued for their ACTING abilities, NOT by the worth of surgery on their face. it is disheartening to realize how shallow and vain we are....

    i don't know if this is consider as bad as surgery...

    my teeth are a bit out of line (upper half... ) and i'm pretty dam sure after college and making money, i'm gonna go get the invisible braces

    my skin ins't that great, and i have acne when i was a teen (still do have a bit)... and i have scars.... i'm sure as hell gonna go and fix that too at the dermintoligist. probably gonna go under the lazer to resurface the new skin

    i'm a bit over weight (175 for a 5'9)... so i'm trying to exercise to work some of the fat off

    i'm near sighted, lol. so i'm gonna try and get enough money for lasic.. cuzz i find glasses annoying even after 6 year of them on... i wore contact before but that's annoying too, so i'm gonna save up and go for the better solution. although i look smarter with glasses on, i'm not actually that smart... better with them off lol.

    alot of those stuff are requiring doctor/equipment, not sure if that's falling under some sort of surgery. i wouldn't go fix my nose or my eye or anything like that. but if u think about it, teeth, nearsighted, weight, skins, they all require some sort of work to make them better.

    That is not cosmetic surgery, surgeries done for the aesthetic.

    Some of the pics there aren't the real stars' before pics, eg. Ha Ji Won, it's not her before pic, that's Jung Ryeo Won. Also, someone said in the thread abt lighting, makeup etc and I agree with it, because I know someone who used to be a model and he said that what u see in the magazines and photos of models, in real life they don't look that flawless. It's the lighting etc, and also the camera effects that make them look very good.
    I'm not saying that all of the stars there are natural, of course many of them obviously did something, but I believe Jeon ji hyun, Kim tae hee and jang na ra are natural beauties, it's just that the two pics are taken at different time, different lighting, makeup so obviously they can look a bit different. Plus, childhood pics can't really be an indication of whether u're natural or not, cos I know some people who were single-eyelided when they were small, but when they grew up they have double eyelid. The same goes for nose, some people have flat nose when they were small but when they grow up the nose become more high-bridged.
    Also, losing weight does affect your facial features. When you lose a lot of weight (not just 1-2 kg), your eyes can appear larger because the fat around the eyes disappear.
    So don't just judge people saying that they all did surgeries. A lot of them did, and some of them didn't. Unless the difference is really noticeable, there's no proof that they did it.

    Don't use really young or baby pictures to compare them. Some do grow up and mature so they CHANGE.

    Well I'll give her the benefit of a doubt about having fixed her eyes, but I think it's quite obvious that she had something done to her nose and jawline...

    Before:
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b388/401/pb2/2-1.jpg')

    After:
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b388/401/pb2/1-2.jpg')
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b388/401/pb2/3.jpg')

    In the "after" pictures, her nose is visibly higher and pointier. Similarly, her jawline is evidently a lot more longer and sharper in the last 2 pics as compared to the 1st.
