"Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand" means "Come Give Me Your Hand." A direct translation of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" would be something like "Ich Moechte Deine Hand Halten." It does sound more awkward, so it's probably why they changed it (as Cesare mentioned).

At any rate, since I'm not the biggest Beatles fan around, I wasn't aware they had a lot of their singles released in German, so I thought it was odd as to why there was a translation in the first place. But Internets helped clear that up.

Only two: the other was "Sie Liebe Dicht." ("She Loves You") The Beatles recorded these two songs in German as well as English because, before they became famous, the Beatles had honed their craft playing in the nightclubs and bars of Hamburg, Germany. As a sort of tribute to the German audience that had been so instrumental in their climb to the top, the band recorded two of their biggest early singles for release in the German market. Capitol Records in the U.S., however, were looking for any and all Beatles artifacts they could package and sell during the height of Beatlemania in 1964, so the two German tracks were included on two of the Beatles' early American albums and became known in the U.S. that way.

They never recorded an entire song in any other language again, although they did put some French lyrics into "Michelle" on RUBBER SOUL and some nonsense Italian/Spanish in "Sun King" on ABBEY ROAD.
