Do not say that man! We must have pride with our own country's Television Channel, no matter how bad it is... If even Singaporeans do not support our own channel, it will never improve...

The fact is, they doesn't improve whether we support it or not. The only thing they improve is the outlook of it. The appearance.

I suppose as a Singaporean, we shld support & b proud of our TV station. I would really like to but frankly speaking our drama standard really sucks. Those so call big productions with celebrities from HK or whatever place sounds so good during their trailers and advertisement. When shown....... Ha Ha!!!

Well I have actually stopped watching S'pore productions for abt 2 to 3 years. Sometimes I still tune in occassionally to our drama hoping to get surprises but .......sigh...... The storyline sucks, most of the actors sucks, everything sucks. the show is just like a body without its soul, lifeless.

I really hope some really big, powerful corporation out there will come into Singapore to compete with Mediacorp. There will not be any improvement if there's no challenge.

There are actually a few decent works in between... but fundamentally they aren't that great, nor do they have the ability to have the audiences chase after the serials.

u want the solution fine. ist my critisizm is that singapore actors suk big time. and the solution is for mediacorp to disband and broadcast foreign shows instead. that will increase the viewing population.

That doesn't solve any problems... because the audience will start complaining about the lack of local productions.

Sometimes I feel that the problem isn't just with the tv station, but also the watchful eye of the government on issues related to media broadcasting.

HK can film shows that the Singapore tv station would never dream of attempting, such as

    - Young and Dangerous (glorifying secret society)
    - Infernal Affairs (suggesting corruption in government bodies)

In US, Steve Bridges could impersonate Geroge Bush for a few laughs. Taiwanese Jackie Wu occasionally mimicks Chen Shui Bian. I've seen Japanese idols impersonate Koizumi.

When was the last time our comedians poked fun at sensitive topics?

Maybe. I don think TVB nor ATV in Hk can attempt the extreme topics like secret society or corruption in government bodies also but their productions are far better than us.

Maybe its just me, but I've enjoyed a majority of Singaporean productions. Even though they might not be up to scale as other big time producers like TVB and etc, but at least they are trying. Perhaps failing at some attempts, but we mustn't forget about the successful ones. Lol, what is that saying...."Failure is the mother of success."

Goddess you are too lenient! Or maybe you are just so lucky that you only get to watch those that are at least of decent standard.
