    Default why huashan?

Quite a few things happen on HuaShan: the tournaments before LoCH that determined who would come in posession of the 9YZJ, the fight in XAJH in which the Demon Cult Elders got locked in caves near the summit. I know HuaShan is one of the 'Wu Yue,' but didn't these exciting things happen on Song Shan or Tai Shan or the two Heng Shans?

I am thinking it depends on the preferences of the author. Because in several Gu Long novels Tiannan is mentioned more then Hua Shan. And Kun Lun is also mentioned in both Jin Yong and Gu Long novels too. And also in Yu Liang Sheng novels Tiannan is mentioned somewhat more then Hua Shan I think. But none of them are mentioned more then Wudang or Shaolin.

Also I am not sure what you meant by "Wu Yue", but from somewhere I read that Hua Shan was founded by one of the 7 Quen Zhen Sect masters from ROCH.

Huashan is one of the 5 mystical peaks of China.

Huashan in Taoist stories was founded by Taoist Hao, one of the QZ priest in JY's Condor trilogy. JY's Huashan is not founded by him though.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the original post-er of the thread is talking about the mountain, Hua Shan, or Mount Hua.

He is not talking about the sect, Hua Shan, that was founded by Hao Datong.

That's what I've always thought. I don't know how Mt. Hua's topographical layout compares to that of China's other lofty peaks, but my pet theory has always been that the slopes there were especially challenging, and the Greats agreed on this location for the extra challenge provided by the environment.

    Thanks for the input.

Yes, I was talking about the mountain, but I had no idea that the Huashan sect was started by one of the QZ priests. That's quite interesting.

When I climbed Hua Shan, I remember seeing the chess pavilion on the east (?) peak, just imagine some of the great martial artists meeting there!
