So, Tianshan Tonglao has secured TWO victories already, by defeating the nameless eunuch who created the Sunflower Manuscript AND the legendary monk who mastered 23 Supreme Arts of Shaolin. Congratulations to Tonglao. However, I believe it is time for her to go.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the first advertisement of the MYSTERIOUS PERSONALITIES WUXIA SURVIVOR GAME, presented in honor of Crippled Beggar Union Chief Shi Huolong. Please consider his achievements as a mysterious personality and support him in the game.

Now, Shi Huolong is a character who were only mentioned by word of mouth. He never actually appeared in the novel, so it is very difficult to say what kind of person he was. However it was mentioned in the novel that this man had preserved Xiao Feng and Hong Qigong's tradition of being an extremely honorable AND manly chief.

Even though Shi Huolong is famous for being handicapped due to learning XL18Z with insufficient internal energy, the fact is that it happened many years ago. During the years after, I believe the novel indicated that he lived in seclusion and improved his internal energy, so he should be very powerful. Shi Huolong demonstrated tremendous remarkability by competing palms with Cheng Kun, who was said to be as powerful as the 3 divine Du monks of Shaolin. The result of their palm clash was that both suffered internal injury, with Cheng Kun vomitting blood, and DID NOT DARE come close to Shi Huolong until he recovered after many days.

The indication that Shi Huolong is almost on par with Cheng Kun, speaks loudly for Shi Huolong's accomplishments. The guy is a worthy opponent to one of the most vicious villains in Jin Yong wuxia. Shi Huolong had not been the successor of Hong Qigong in vain. He still did his predecessors proud, even though the general martial arts level of his generation deterioated greatly.

The fact that Jin Yong specifically said Shi Huolong did not have sufficient internal energy to master all 18 Dragon Palms, and later wrote that he could injure Cheng Kun with his palms, is one of the great puzzles of wuxia. Because, even Yelu Qi was good enough to complete the 18 palms, and Yelu Qi at the end of ROCH is only as good as Huodu. There is an implication that Yelu Qi > Shi Huolong. So does that mean Huodu and Daerba are on par with Cheng Kun? Judging by their martial arts, I don't think that is the case. I believe Shi Huolong should be more powerful than Yelu Qi at the end of ROCH. Eventually Yelu Qi might have surpassed Shi Huolong after he completed all 18 palms, but as of their final "appearance" or mention in their respective novels, I believe Shi Huolong is superior.

about her past.. we already have some details about what happened. We know that was in Xiaoyao Pai at age 13 or so. We know that Li Qiushui tricked her into learning 8HLHYUDFGASKJJAG... (hehe) and we know that she stayed away from the central plains all these years. On the other hand we know almost next to nothing about Shi Huolong's martial arts background. The descriptions of him seem contradictory to each other, which is one of the great qualities of mysteriousness.

Both are worthy contestants; however Tonglao has already secured her victories, even if she did not win this round, she would not have been competing in vain.

Well, personally, I'd rather know more about TSTL's past than SHL's past. His past may be interesting, yes, and we do know less about him, but TSTL has much more to offer in terms of mysteriousness, there is much more about her that would be nice to know, as her martial arts are very exceptional, yet we only have limited knowledge of them. It's a bit like comparing a no-name in Wulin to SHL, sure, we know even less of the no-name, but who is really mysterious? Who would you want to know about?

For me, I would choose TSTL over SHL, of course, everyone differs.
