Just a quick survey that hopefully will explain the preponderance of certain topics here.

Since I don't speak nor read chinese, I am only familiar with what has been translated so far, which is mostly JY and Gl, though there are some bits and pieces of the others.

I'm very familiar with JY and I'm still working on GL's 66 novels. Only about 33% done with GL's set. As of right now, I'm looking at GL's student- Huang Ying's famous Shen Sheng Yi series.
    法王正欲回掌相击,突听嗤嗤轻响一股柔和的气流涌向面门,正是一灯大师使出“一阳指”功夫,正面拦截。法王一直没将这白眉老僧放在眼内,那料到他这一指之功,竟是如此深厚
    此时一灯大师的“一阳指”功夫实已到了登峰造极、炉火纯青的地步,指上发出的那股罡气似是温淳平和,但沛然浑厚,无可与抗

Did he purposely write exactly 69 novels?

I highly doubt it. He died unexpectedly, he was still writing novels before he died. Had he live longer, he would probably be writing new stories.

I recently started reading wuxia novels.
I have only read two or three novels from JY and GL.
The translations are very rare. Some of them are still in progress.
    Wow GL wrote 69 novels.
    Pretty impressive.

i cannot read Chinese but have watched all the bastardized versions of JY and GL Hong Kong tv series (some Tawainese and Chinese too). Currently drowing in anticipation for the English translation on this site. (I read Book 2 of John Minford's Deer and the Cauldron/Duke of Mt. Deer -- I like the translations on SPCNET and Wuxiapedia much better). Great job translators!
