i think most of jin yong's main couples were well-suited for each other, esp. huang rong and guo jing, but i agree with bluegirl about wyy and duan yu. in the beg., duan yu only liked wyy because she looked like a statue he'd seen. even if he sacrificed a lot for wyy, i still think he just worshipped wyy and his feelings for her were physical. meanwhile, i felt bad for mu wanqing, since once duan yu met wyy, mu wanqing totally disappeared from the scene.

also, if hsds is not one-on-one, then tlbb isn't a one-on-one either, since duan yu has wyy, mu wanqing, and zhong ling. all of his "sisters" except a zhu and a zi like him.

i think DY/WYY was a 1 on 1 because it was pretty clear that he's going after her (one), and even though she kindda jump da boat, it was still simple enough. in DSHS it was a 3 way where it's kindda indecisive. at any rate, DY kindda show a character of hope for the people that read/watch the story. he works and works and works and he finally got it. i thought it was kindda funny about the stuff that he did, to be honest it wasn't that serious, the dude ran around following her, and she jump boat at the end. not like YG/XLN where it was all serious. but YG/XLN relationship is well like by most people because of the "unoriginal" aspect. the relationship is almost like a fantasy.

and 1 more thing, i do not get the relationship of Ah Zhu and Qiao Feng, what does a girl see in a guy like that? i understand that XF is a rightgous, hero guy, hell, if there's a clear line between black n white, he'll be as white as anyone can be. But that's not what girls really look for in a guy... he's not romatic, too heroic... ect... i just don't get it ... i'm not a girl so don't take this as the truth, i'm just trying to think like a girl and that's what i've came up with.

DY/YG atleast are what pepple call "lady's men" they are romatic, thoughtful, truthful, and will to sacrisfy for their love. i think that's what more women would desire in their men.

hmm...talking about character wise, duan yu is funny and romantic but not what i would have really like. say, compare his character to qiao feng, i like qf's character more. and the fact that he's righteous, acts insensitive (or is), not wishy-washing or something like that, makes him really attractive. even though the guy who played in the 2003 version wasn't good-looking i thought he pulled off the role really well and made qf attractive not because of his look, but his personality.

now i've always love jimmy but his character duan yu is not attractive, to me anyways.

I agree. I'm a girl, and between DY and QF/XF, I'd definitely chose the latter, cause he is a lot more trustworthy and serious than DY, who just chases girls around all day. Actually, that brings an interesting point I never thought of before. Which Jing Yong man do you think is the best? For me, it's Ling Hu Chong, out of XF (who is too serious), Zhang Wu Ji, Yang Guo (too flirtaceous), Guo Jing (sadly, I don't think I'll be able to love him because of his stupidity), etc.

But yes, XF is still too serious for me, tho better than DY.

i think xiaofeng's loyalty is his most appealing feature. i'm a girl, and i have to say not all girls go for the flirty and fickle guys. xiaofeng's loyal to the grave when it comes to caring for his friends, and his later loyalty to a zhu is even more passionate...xiaofeng is romantic in his own way. like he risks his life to save a zhu. however, xiaofeng has a certain temper that wouldn't appeal to me, but it's really touching how a tough, serious guy like xiaofeng can soften up when it comes to a zhu.

as for which jin yong man i would like best...i don't think i'd choose duan yu, guo jing or yang guo...xiaofeng's too rough and irrational...so i'd choose zhang wuji!

the best jing yong man would have to be Yang Guo for me. in strict terms, yang guo isn't the most romantic person either. for example, when XLN is like "Did you ever think of taking me as your wife?" he would be like "huh?????" even though he might have already had feelings for her. however, once he is set in loving a person, he sticks to it and never changes. (some you can rely on) though in the ROCH 95 verson, YG's overly flirtatious manner in the begging irritated me. i can only try to comfort myself by saying "at least all the flirtatiousness originated from him thinking that all the girls looked like XLN" blame his eyes rather than his heart.

as for qiao feng duan yu. i would choose duan yu also for the same reason. he may seem a little flirtatiuos, but once he's set on a girl, he's set. i don't think he ever loved mu wan qing because it was morel ike mu wan qing forced herself on him and he just said yes becuase 1. she IS pretty 2. He's nice to girls 3. He's a nice person. as i mentioned eariler above, when he found out that they were siblings, he wasn't that sad and was like "oh, that's good too." whereas when he thouught WYY was his younger sister, he was pretty traumatized. there's a difference.

as for qiao feng, i HAVE to like him for staying loyal to ah zhu and not following the horrible trend of liking the younger sister of his dead lover like in tian xia di yi. but i have to say no matter how deep his love is, it kind of is overshadowed by his heroism. of course, its better for a guy to care more about big issues instead of indulging in love all the time, but i though xiao feng overdid it. I forgot was it you or was it someone else that was angry that when XF suicided, he didn't even mention of ah zhu at all. but i have to say both XF and DY are very very good people
