"SWORD GOD" Zhuo Bufan

What a pleasant surprise it is to have just found out that in TVB's "Jade-Faced Flying Fox," Hugo Ng plays a lead named Zhuo Bufan, exactly as SWORD GOD's name is written! Having never viewed this series, I would like to know, is this Zhuo Bufan also known as SWORD GOD? Does he have anything in common with Jin Yong's SWORD GOD?

Unfortunately, Hugo Ng's Zhuo Bufan has nothing in common with the infamous SWORD GOD. He is known as Jade-Faced Flying Fox (not SWORD GOD), hence the name of the series. He works for a special organization of the government that employs people of wulin. I would say that his character in personality is more similar to LXF or CLX than your favorite ELOC.

Hey I remember this series!
IIRC ZBF did not use a sword often. He preferred to use his bare hands, but he was highly skilled with sword. I think he has one of those flexi swords that he uses as a belt. He was one of the top fighters of his time.

Zhuo is really the epitome of Hard-To-Get-It-Right Lastnames (aka ELOL: Exposing Lovable Overlooked Lastnames).

Before August 2006 (when the SWORD GOD evangelism began), it was commonly mispelled as Zuo.

Since then, it has been commonly mispelled as Zhou.

Who can blame them, when Zhuo is such a rare last name, and is so similar to more common last names/words such as Zuo and Zhou.

Just to remind everyone: probably 1/2 of the reason why CC and I evangelized SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan, was that we mispelled his name all these years before it was brought to our attention in 2006. The other 1/2 of reason was his extraordinary feats.

I wonder if the creator of the show conceived the name Zhuo Bufan by himself, or did he copy it from Jin Yong! Maybe he liked SWORD GOD so much that he felt compelled to reuse the character's name in a much more glorious, larger role.
