Actresses you think TVB should give the flick

Thanks to the suggestion put forward byKantopunK...xD and since the other thread doesn't have any actresses in the list, i thought i'd put one up.

(now i just gotta figure out how to set up the poll)

EDIT: damn, i could only make ten choices - i basically put in the actresses who have appeared in dramas this year..although i couldn't put everyone, i tried to add in the most prominent ones. If there's an actress who isn't on the list that you would like TVB to give the flick, then please specify. .


EDIT 2 : I've bolded the reason why particular actresses are up there. Believe me, i wouldn't want Myolie, Tavia or Charmaine to be fired from TVB - they're my favourite actresses on TVB right now, along with Ada Choi. However, since i was restricted i just had to randomly put some actresses in. Sorry.

Anyway, my vote goes to Linda Chung. After watching a couple of episodes of FH, i took an immediate dislike to her character - i found Ding Ding on the verge of 'annoying-ness'. I thought to myself, maybe it's just the character. However, after watching Biter Bitten, I found her acting really dry and dull - maybe it was her character again (this time, she was boring) but still, she could've put some life into her. I even found Shirley Yeung more likeable than Linda. Usually, anyone else is better than Shirley. Even with all the series she's got under her belt, Linda Chung doesn't seem to be improving - she just stands and looks pretty (i don't think she's that pretty though - but she's got good posture). I guess Linda should stick with advertising/CMs.

Well that's my opinion anyway.

Linda Chung and Mandy Cho... yeah bad actresses but they're pretty new, so give them a bit of time.

Sonija Kwok and Shirley Yeung have been around for years and they still can't act to save their life... TVB should axe them!

Charmaine Sheh has improved a lot since she first came out.

yes. i do agree that a lot of the actresses listed have good acting skills.despite all this, imo i just don't seem to enjoy linda's acting. she is being promoted but somehow i don't seem to find a connection to her when she acts and don't find her very actracting since winning MCI. [no offense to those linda fans out there]

I agree what the frick is Myolie, Tavia, Leila, Melissa and even Charmaine doing up there?!! I know Linda Chung, Mandy Cho, Shirley Yeung and especially Sonija Kwok could be explanatory but I totally agree with the previous posts above - esp. sunnydayz - that most of the actresses up there could totally act and also have the looks.

Although Linda and Mandy has heaps to improve I'll give them some time. Both are still new,unexperienced and very young in the showbiz industry and wait for a few more years to see what they could do and if they still don't show signs of improvement and continue their limited acting- then they could be considered being given the flick.

And I totally agree with sunnydayz 100% - couldnt have put it any better myself.

yup yup....throughout the list only 4 are eligable for beeing called "not so good"actresses.
linda chung- i think that right now she's still in the period of gathering experience and should i say 'training'? i realized that tvb's trying to let her try several different characters. Although for the time being her acting skill is not very convincing...its still somewhat ok.

mandy cho- if having to compare to linda...she's prettier but her acting is well...just blah (no offense ) i mean...most of the time she tries to be cute.

Sonija Kwok- i didn't like her when she just start acting in Perish in The Name of Love, Where the Legend begins but since her character was evil...i think she did a good job at convincing me to hate her. But i still thought her acting was good. AFter watching The Last Breakthrough though, i find that evil is probably the only character she's good at. She was really dull and boring in TLB, Legend of Love and ..urg...Vegabond Vigilant

Shirley- she's not bad but i think that she really needs to improve her crying skills. Also i find taht she tends to overact a bit (over excited) at times like in the biter bitten...i found her quite annoying but she's alright.

i find myself agreeing to all of your comments here. a lot of people feel that sonija can't act but i actually find her quite convincing acting evil roles. agree 100% with what you said/

ok...astro_punk, maybe i suggested to create one this poll thingyo but the list of people is just weird [no offence] but anyhow...who cares!

i voted for linda chung because of her of the "over-promoted her" and her acting skills are still quite crap. Mandy Cho also would get my vote if this was a multi choice poll because i hated her in the guts of man! So annoying!

If this allows for multiple choices, I would have voted for Linda, Mandy, Mellisa Ng, and Sonija too. By the way, I voted for Niki Chow since I can't stand her acting. She is annoying no matter what her characters are like in different series. As for Linda, I haven't seen FH and BB but I saw her in VOH II and thought that her acting was far from good. That was her first series so I should have given her more chances but the fact that TVB keeps giving her big roles just make vote for her. It's a sign of rebellion. Mandy can't act too, I don't dislike her but I think she should have gone to acting class first before appearing in TV again.

As for Sonija, I agree with bittersweet that the only role Sonija can play is evil role. She even seems evil when she is trying to play good. I'm ok if TVB would like to keep her to keep playing those villainous role but the fact that TVB gives her lead roles make me want to advise TVB to get rid of her.

I actually disliked Charmaine a lot because she couldn't act and TVB keeps showering her with love and opportunities to act in so many good shows. One of them is Return of the Cuckoo that I want to watch badly but couldn't bring myself to watch because of her. However, I do admit that she has improved tremendously from her early days. Still, I won't watch a show just because she is in. In fact, I'd rather that she is not in the show that I'm watching. But since she can act better now, I don't mind that she is kept by TVB.

I don't dislike Myolie and used to like her but her acting in Wars of In Law just totally throw me off. She thinks she is that great in acting to carry out those exaggerations but sorry it just seems fake to me. I am not saying that she can't act but I just think that she shouldn't overestimate herself.

Mellisa Ng, Mellisa Ng, I used to be ok with her but what happened to her lately? She just doesn't fit the role of pretty housewife who is naive and stupid because instead of feeling sympathy for her character, I got annoyed by her or her character. Not that she can't act out any emotion, but lately her acting has always been the same. No matter if her character is a career woman or a housewife, she approached her role the same, all stubborn brainless women who are two-dimensional. I think she has ruined a lot of series in these few years for me (Fantasy Hotel, Into Thin Air, La Femme Desperado, Love Guaranteed, etc), I think she better off staying as supporting characters. Sorry if I offend anyone.

charmaine sheh...same roles over and over again. if she's improved then it's only because she can't be any worse than how she started. and dude, girls looking way too haggard and old to play cutesy roles and star opposite men much younger looking than she.
