While Duan Yu had no misgivings in his heart about that matter, he thought again, “In short, I should just do more good deeds in my life and never do bad things. Elephants can carry heavy loads of tons, crickets and ants can only drag little things; if you have a strong ability, you can do great good deeds, but you would also be able to do horribly bad things. With Divine Croc’s abilities, if you only do good deeds, wouldn’t it be greatly beneficial to everyone?” the moment he thought of this point, he felt that even if Divine Croc was his master, but he only twisted bad people’s necks, it will seem as though “This sentence seems to be logical.”
The scroll also had ways to cultivate the many other channels and meridians; all of them were for absorbing the internal energy of others. Although Duan Yu had no more qualms about that, he still felt that practicing it went against his personal character, just being greedy of much and determined to meet one’s desires alone was already not a good thing and thus, he decided to ignore it.
At the end of the scroll, he saw again “Graceful Steps upon the Waves” these words and immediately thought of the sentences in...

I am sorry for not translating for so long and for the mistakes. I will translate again as soon as I can. Thank you Pacifan for those terms .

Okay, I have just learnt to process whatever information before I simply copy and pasted them from the net.
More specifically: In the center of the perineum, i.e.
    (a) for Males: in between the anus and the scrotum,
    (b) for Females: between the anus and the posterior labial commissure.

The website where I got the information had both Males and Females part, but they did not label them carefully. I saw the word 'scrotum' so I used the other description, hoping that it will not be so gender-specific, but little did I know it turned even worse.. Sigh...

No worries; learn and move on!
I make mistakes too, but a horrendously demanding editor during the days when I used to write professionally did contribute a lot to instilling all sorts of habits that have helped to raise the standards of my work/writing. I think most of the "editors" in the wuxia translations forum are terribly kind compared to the tyrant I used to work for!

Transferred to Chapter 5: Subtle Steps and Hanging Threads

*Give me some credit, people. Translating the poem is tough, real tough.

Btw, I apologise for not translating for so long.*

EDIT: People well-versed in Chinese, if you don't mind, feel free to come and correct the poem translation, I got the feeling it would be quite incorrect, given my rusty command of Chinese.

Indeed. The excruciating pain demanded of simply reading ancient poem has me skipping them most of the time, nevermind attempting to translate them. So props to your continuous effort!

    This is good work, Pacifian!

I'm currently translating Chapter 26 of 'She Diao' for the "LoCH Book 3" thread. The poetry in it is quite simple, but I still find it hard to translate. Duan Yu's thoughts in 'Tian Long' are surely among the hardest to translate in wuxia literature, so I think anyone who makes the effort with these deserves serious credit.

Pacifian...I've been waiting YEARS for someone to take this translation past the 4th chapter. Thanks for stepping up to the plate. To those just trying to get the essence of the book and not worried so much about pin-point anatomical jargon, like myself...your translation is perfect. Many thanks.

    Glad you like it.

Is it really very jargon-ridden? You know, I tried to cut down on those stuff too; they are hard to translate, and I do get a little dizzy trying to decipher these jargonistic, obscure terms, but well, I need to preserve the original text as much as possible, shouldn't I? But of course, there is much room for improvement for me... Thanks for the comments.

Kudos for figuring out all that jumbo!

Too bad there are still tons and tons of those passages about meridians, acupoints etc. It is one of more "profound" Jin Yong novels, I think. By gods, those are quite tough to put it words, let alone translate them. Especially for someone like me who had no idea what exactly they are talking about!
