Hi everyone! Hehe, I'm relatively new to spcnet, but I've been an Ariel fan for about a year. I've seen Secret Garden I, Seventh Grade, Love Contract, ISWAK 1 (and TKA/ISWAK 2 so far), Tian Wai Fei Xian and Tokyo Juliet. (Oh, and Love Me If You Can - absolutely agree with what Jilly said - the movie itself wasn't the greatest - it's a modern/reincarnation take on the "butterfly lovers" story - but Ariel's performance was amazing, and she definitely deserved the Golden Horse Award nomination for it).

I'm *really* looking forward to seeing her in LOCH in May

0-0-0, there's a whole album for Lunia? Interesting. I think I saw something on the Lunia page that they were selling with Ariel's cosplay pic on the cover (she cosplayed the main female character, Eir The Healer) – maybe it was the album. She only sang that one theme song, though. Ariel’s never released a full album. She actually might be doing so at the end of this year, depending on how things go, but her focus will always be primarily on acting. She does have a weak voice, but that’s because she's never had any training. (A lot of people’s voices are thin until they get proper training with breath control and proper use of the diaphragm, etc – that was the case for me, anyway). I think she has a good voice, but she gets so nervous in front of a crowd. I would just say she needs training and some practice before she releases a full album... maybe visit the U.S. and sing in a few coffee shops or something to get rid of her big crowd jitters

Kinda of related to the music thing, there have been two news articles out that Ariel might be looking at doing a role this year in a drama called “Purple Rose.” If she does take the role, her character would be the girlfriend of a guy who’s a singer, but then he dies. So, Ariel’s character decides to fulfill his dream of becoming a big singer, even though she doesn’t know anything about singing.

Has anyone posted any of the pics of Ariel cosplaying the “evil” princess from Lunia? She designed the princess dress herself from her own childhood ideas of what she thought a princess would wear. (lol, does that remind anyone of Tokyo Juliet?)

The part that made me happy, though, was that she said she would definitely consider doing a villainous role in the future. I'd love to see Ariel portray the antagonist in a series or movie, since that's one type of role she hasn't done yet.

She doesn't look evil in that dress. I actually thought she looks rather pretty She looks really short in that first picture though.

Thanks for the news on her upcoming "Purple Rose" drama, swimfishyswim (can we just call you swim or fish for short?). I'm looking forward to it if she decides to accept the role.

As much as I also want her to play an antagonist role for the challenge, I don't think she'd ever be offered such a role coz she's famous for her warm smile and likableness.

Red, haha, yeah, I like the Lunia costume, too. She did the voiceovers for the first character she cosplayed, Eir the Healer (one of the protagonists), for the online video game. Her voiceovers are pretty funny. Cosplay seems to be pretty big in Taiwan lately.

At the TKA promo, the two guys were supposed to be “fighting” over her, as their characters. At this point, I think Ariel had probably just teased Joe, probably something like “Well, then, lao gong, maybe I’ll just choose Qi Tai.” Hence, Joe’s expression and Ariel and Figaro’s laughter. Plus, Figaro and Ariel are pretty good friends, too, since they’ve both been in Choustar together for a long time.

Jilly, yeah, she doesn’t look particularly evil in the pics, although she does have a subtle wicked aura about her, I think. Maybe it’s because she’s not smiling, and I’m so used to seeing her smiling.

Yup, just call me swim. It’s much easier =D Purple Rose sounds good – I’m hoping she’ll talk about her next project more this month.

Hmm, I doubt she’d be offered a role as the antagonist in an idol drama (unless it was a really insightful director), but possibly in a movie. Her innocence and sweetness would make her the perfect villain who no one would suspect, haha. (I don’t know if you watch Japanese drama, but just look at Maki – she looks so sweet and innocent, you would never think she could play the villain, but she’s scary in some of her movies).

Btw, has she ever been nominated for best actress for any of her TV series? I know other actresses such as Angela Zhang and the late Beatrice Xu have been nominated for Golden Bell Award, but I've never heard of Ariel getting this recognition. Am I missing anything?

Nope, surprisingly, Ariel's never been nominated for the Golden Bell Award. I would have thought for Love Contract or even ISWAK (although I guess Golden Bell doesn't usually award for comedies?) i got a glimpse from iswak 2 and my my ariel looked way way skinnier than before..i never found her fat before but i think she looks a little too skinny now which made her more mature..

big_master, Ariel looked skinnier than before, because during filming for TKA, she had to lose part of the weight that she wanted to lose for her role as Huang Rong in LOCH. TKA and LOCH filming ended up being back-to-back. It kinda worked out, since Ariel looked like a more mature Xiang Qin/wifey, and she was able to lose about half of the weight she wanted to lose by the time TKA ended. Then, she lost the rest of the weight pretty quickly right before/right as LOCH filming re-started. She's gained back a little weight (pretty much all in her cheeks, where it always goes), but I think she might be planning to maintain an in-between Xiang Qin and Huang Rong weight for health reasons. Lol, there was a recent article about how Ariel went to see a Chinese doctor, and he said that she has a face that shows she was meant for "farm work," lol. Basically, he said that her face shows that no matter what or how much hard work she does, she'll always look healthy. (One of her fellow actresses in ISWAK 2 was admiring her gorgeous skin that never seems to get blemishes). No wonder she can get almost no sleep while filming and still look radiant, hehe.

Surprising indeed. I thought she's one of the better actresses out there. Even Ella from S.H.E was nominated for her role in "Reaching for the Stars." How can all these people bypass her?

I've always liked Ariel's look without the bangs best. In ISWAK and TJ, the bang look was too severe (although it was to fit the characters).

But gosh she's gotten skinnier too! Even if we factor in photoshopping, I wouldn't say she weighs much more than me now...maybe less. Is she still dieting? I heard she was once on this diet where she ate like, three bananas a day and that was it. And not those kind of bananas either.

Overall, she's like me - fat on the face (and that fat better be baby fat, that's all I gotta say...although sunken cheeks are unattractive too), but very little fat throughout the rest of the body.

Dude, bananas are only yellow on the outside! They're really white on the inside. Yes, even Asian bananas are only yellow on the outside.
