swimfishyswim06, the blonde guy is mike he (supposedly) i know, it doesn't look like him. but i got it off one of his fan sites, so... lol. i still don't think i could see jiro as sho, he's just too approachable, you know? he's always the nice guy in love with the main character, but sho is more of a totally self-centered, seemingly emotionless, uber-cool chick-magnet. i just don't think jiro would fit that. but i LOVE him as an actor. in fact, he might fit some of the other roles. also, i haven't seen much of megan lai, so i can't really make a valid +/- vote for her as kanae. ....must youtube her.....

Swim mei, I've seen Megan in MG2, Mars, and Silence, and I personally don't think she's a great actress. She would do okay as Kanae, but she is by no means an incredible actress. Sorry!! *run away from swim*

Ariel has been tucking her hair under in a lot of her pictures recently. Is she trying to get us used to her short hair look? Hehe..

ya, sure! i think you have to read the manga tho, to get a good grasp of his character. yashiro-san's actor wouldn't actually have to be that good-looking, since that's not very pertinent to the plot, but they'd have to have a wide range of emotions, since yashiro is so crazy. X3

I guess I’ve only seen the whole of MARS and and most of Sweet Relationship, and I thought she was great in Sweet Relationship as the clingy childhood friend/semi-love interest. Actually, though, Ivy Fan seems like a good idea, too. Just curious, how tall is she?

Hehe, I’m pretty sure Ariel and her hairdresser are trying to get themselves and us used to Ariel with short hair.

soratorashi (can I call you sora for short?), I'm reading Skip Beat scanlations now. Thanks for the link! I'm still on chapter 11, but it's very engrossing. Ariel is definitely the best choice as Kyoko. She's strong, determined, and persistent. She is a tough cookie =P

Sho is a total jerk and so full of himself. I can see swim mei's point now. I've seen Danson as a semi-baddie in KO One and The X-family, but I don't think I'm ready to see him a "supercilious jerk that Sho is."
I know I've said that I don't want to see another ArJoe pairings so soon, but the more I read the manga, the more I think Joe's aloofness would play very well here.

Ren is quite a complicated character. He's outwardly nice and polite, but he has mysterious dark past. I kinda have second thoughts on Mike He as Ren now. This is a complex character to play, and I'm not sure if Mike can pull it off. But look wise, you can go no wrong with Mike, haha. Btw, Ren is 190 cm

So yeah, except Ariel, I'm not sure about my ideal cast anymore. I'm not even sure if Ivy Fan (she's 164 cm) fits as Kanae. Isn't Kanae supposed to be pretty? Anyway, as long as the actors can capture the characters well, I'm fine with whoever get the roles

Hey sora and Jilly Jie! I'm beginning to have doubts about who to cast, too. I'll be happy as long as people are cast who are able to pull off the roles well. Someone in AF suggested Ryan Tang for Ren, too. What do you think? He's definitely a skilled and versatile actor, and I can see him as the skilled and charming, cool and mysterious, yet warm on the inside Ren. Hmm, and I'm actually really having trouble with Sho right now. I still like Show. Joe could pull off Sho, but Sho is a pretty complex character, too. Haha, this is kind of silly, but the problem with Joe playing Sho is that Ren has to be taller. And what Taiwanese actor (with amazing acting chops) are you going to find who's taller than Joe? I can't think of a single person. Joe is 188 cm, Ethan is 186, and everyone else is pretty much 180 (including Vic and Jerry I think). Ryan Tang is 184 cm. The only TW actor taller than Joe that I know of is Jerry Huang, and I would just die if he was cast as Ren. His acting is....*cough* awful. Anyway, so hope the casting people do a good job.

Heh, I don't know what that pic of Ariel is from. Ariel's real prom pic was much much prettier though. She looks like an angel.

Here's a pic of Ariel and Figaro from Chinese New Year, with some of Ariel's pet golden mice (she has 7 total). Her fave animals (per her profile) are mice, dogs and humans, lol.

jilly, yeah, the more i think about it, the more i'm unsure!!! of course, i'm still set on ariel ;D at least we can all agree on that. i'm glad you're reading it! isn't it addicting?!?!!? all my friends say i act like kyoko, especially when she gets all excited over silly things (my friend got me a tiny jewelry box for christmas that looks like a pond and has a frog prince sitting on top, and i almost DIED. lol. XD maybe i'll post a pic tomorrow...)

omg, swim, that pic is so cute!!! hmmm... ryan tang? ...meh. i don't think he's ridiculously-gorgeous enough. and he's kinda... old. lol.
and hey! that's exactly what i was thinking with the height and everything! lol. but if it's only a couple cm, they can fix it with heels (ren does wear a lot of fancy loafers/boots). there was an american movie, can't remember which one, that starred tom cruise, but he was so short that they actually dig ditches for him to walk in so that he and the other lead would be the same height. ...LOL. i dunno, the more i think about, the more it can only be joe for me. besides, he and ariel already have great chemistry and producers love to put them together alll the time. lol. sad as this is, one of the first things that made me a real fan of joe is that he's taller than me (i'm about 182 cm). lol.
joe is 188 (WOW ///'w'///) jerry is about 180 cm so... wait, i have to convert that for my mind to understand it...
ok, so jerry is about 5'10''
and joe is about 6'2'' (YUM).
well, it sounds like alot, but that's really only 4 inches. i dunno, even if they have to have him slouch the entire time, i really want sho to be joe ^^ lol

Heh, I like Show! But he's always goofing around, so it's hard for me to imagine him as the bada$$ Sho. He's too likable^^ I would rather see him as Ren, hehe. You're right about Joe being too tall as Sho. If he were to be casted as Sho, I really can't think of any actor who can match his height AND also have great acting chops to play Ren. Jerry Huang is taller than Joe, but his acting is just meh to me. This ideal cast game is getting harder now =P

Btw, did you hear anything new about Paper Rose? It's still a go, right?

Um, I don't know what to think of Yoshiro-san. I'm only up to chapter 23, and so far his character is not really prominent to the story, so I don't know what to think of him. But I can tell you that I like Ren a lot, haha. There's something about his complex and mysterious character that draws your attention. Sho is still a jerk... no change yet. Kanae is also still mean to Kyoko. She hasn't showed the other caring side of her yet. I wonder if Joelle Lu is a good candidate as Kanae. Joelle is not that pretty (at least to me), but she has the "attitude" that she dispays well in The Rose and The Outsiders. She's really tall, too (177cm).

Speaking of height, sora, is your height really 182cm?!? Holy cow! It'll be a midget standing next to you

and jilly, yeah, i'm TOTALLY CRAZY about skip beat XD. when i fist found out it was going to become a taiwanese drama (MY FAVORITE KIND!!) i just about had an annurism. heh.

the i.c.g. is becoming so difficult..... tho i still say whoever played opposite joe could wear tall shoes or something. heh.

and yeah, i really am 182cm. that's nothing, tho, my uncle is about 210cm!!!!! i barely even come up to his shoulder!! heh, he and my aunt keiko were visiting relatives in japan not too long ago, and he said he kept banging his head going through doorways. lol.

I'm surprised that she's taking wine appreciation course though since she doesn't drink. I didn't know that she's into dancing either. I thought she would be too shy to dance hehe... Her comment about the teacher is so funny, lol.

Thanks for the clip. It's really nice that a lot of celebs are encouraging their fans to donate and help out. It's very hard to fathom the scope of the disaster, but we should do our best to help the victims.

I totally agree with you... after reading the manga, I'm the more convinced that Jerry is not suitable as Ren. As you've mentioned, he's not charming enough and his acting skills are not great enough. Both Kyoko and Ren are supposed to be "the scary kind of actors" (actors with unlimited potential). Ariel will certainly have no problem carrying out her role, but if Jerry were to be casted as Ren, I doubt he can pull it off. Yes, he did improve a lot since his Meteror Garden days, but it's still not enough to play this complex character. That's just my opinion, though. Anyone has an update on the casting?

SETTV's idol drama <I Love Shan Bao Mei>

Cyndi Wang has been confirmed to head for a study tour at New York at the end of June. For this cause, she rejected the offer to star in SETTV idol drama, 《我愛珊寶妹》"I Love Shan Bao Mei" and no longer continuing drama fate with Nicholas Teo.

Cyndi Wang was formerly SETTV drama 《我愛珊寶妹》female lead. This series can be considered as a Smiling Pasta Sequel and so it will gather her once more with Nicholas Teo. The only matter was that Nicholas Teo has been confirmed but Cyndi Wang was uncertain. Following the whole drama's changes，the female lead was rumoured to be Ariel Lin, Joe Chen Qiao En and others. However, Ariel was involved in GTV's 《紙玫瑰》"Purple Rose". It is impossible for Chen Qiao En to star in consecutive dramas. Cyndi Wang wanted openly to study in New York. Lately, Director Liu Jun Jie's brain muscles touched on Tammy Chen Yi Rong.

Hehe, yeah, Ariel’s the kind of person who never stops learning *and* who can never keep still! (Haha, reminds me of someone). Anyway, I guess the wine appreciation course will help her select good wines for Mama Lin to drink on doctor’s orders (and it’ll be handy for dinner parties :P) Hehe, I thought Ariel would be too shy to dance, too, but she was the one moving her hips the most in the Indonesian dance that her, Joe and Danson learned. And she was fast dancing a bit in the 100% Entertainment TKA promo New Year’s clip. (Her swing dancing in TKA looked good, too ). Yeah, I liked Ariel’s comment about her teaching and her “wild” dancing

Wow, finished Skip Beat already? You beat me! I’m still on Chpt. 107. I agree, though, it’s sooo good. I wonder if the TV version will create an ending or if they’ll consult with the mangaka or whatever.

About the I Love Shan Bao Mei news, I hadn't heard anything about Ariel or Qiao En considering or being considered for the role. I think it was the reporters making up news again :P But yeah, Ariel doesn't have time for another drama, 'cause Paper Rose is still set for June filming start as far as I know...

Sora, I really hope the drama does Skip Beat justice, too. No more news on it recently, aside from the accusation from the the TV station that Fated To Love You was trying to steal the chicken costume idea from Skip Beat. *rolls eyes* I really do NOT like some of the marketing strategies of the Skip Beat producers, but hopefully the director and cast will do a great job with it, whoever they turn out to be.

Siryu, hehe, Skip Beat’s so good, right? I wonder how much of Jerry considering Skip Beat is rumor and how much is true. No updates on casting. No news on Skip Beat for a long time, except the part I mentioned above about the chicken :P
