Yep her performance save the show for me. The interaction btw YK and MNC was painful to watch and there only so much fast forwarding my fingers could do . In fact I think most of my favorite parts in the series included her in it (from classic humor ones such as she beating the daylight out of YK literally and her incident with KJ's mom involving the dog beating stick to the memorable farewell goodbye at KJ's mom grave). This show that she is quite multidimensional in her range of acting. As much as I love Ariel as an actress now, I don't think I can tolerate much of TW lovey dovey modern drama so I probably have to pass on both of the ISWAK and TKA. However, if you are a fan of seeing HG and Ariel reunite on screen again, I heard Tian Wai Fei Xian was pretty good and actually was the series that made believers out of a lot of people that she can actually pull off the role of HR.

And yeah, I just love it when HR uses her 'dog beating stick' - on YK, GJ's mom, the snake guy, dude, anyone and everyone!

Ariel Lin speaks up on breakup for the first time

The actress hinted that she had ended the relationship for the sake of her career


Taiwanese actress Ariel Lin, who was recently rumoured to have broken up with her boyfriend, spoke up about her relationship for the first time at the promotional event of drama In Time with Love days ago.

It was rumoured that Ariel's boyfriend had requested the actress to quit showbiz as he had been unhappy with the constant paparazzi and the numerous intimate scenes that she had to film.

Therefore, Ariel, who is passionate about the entertainment industry, decided to put an end to her relationship.

Responding to the issue, the actress did not confront the question directly, but instead remarked, "Everyone has their own dream. One should not be called selfish when they decide to pursue their interest."

She also added, "Discussions and compromises are needed for two people agree on something. This should not include the need to have one give up [on one's career or dream]."

The actress also expressed on her wish to undergo a makeover and to snip off her long tresses of many years. However, this wish of hers has gone unfulfilled because of her role in dramas.

^ Ariel is so adorable! I remember when I first saw her pics I was pretty skeptical if she could pull off roles like the pretty 7th fairy in TWFX and the lovely Huang Rong in LOCH, but her cuteness and acting totally made me forget my doubts.

I didn't know about her boyfriend either...I'm guessing it was someone outside the entertainment circle who just couldn't accept her work? (P.S. I know, they were one of those onscreen couples whom i was hoping will get together in real life, LOLz.

Yeah, Ariel's ex-boyfriend and his family were actually pressuring her to quit showbiz altogether and move over to Canada, and she was actually considering, that's why there were rumours she's retiring for good from showbiz. But I guess this and coupled with other problems, she broke up with him and decided that acting was too much in her blood to quit.

But she is quitting the TV scene and concentrating on movies, like Eddie Peng. And yeah, she had a HUGE health scare earlier this year and had to undergo brain surgery. See the following article, credit to Asiapopcorn.

Ariel Lin's health is in the red. About getting brain surgery, she finally admitted yesterday, "I had a tumor on my pituitary gland, it was two centimeters long and I had it surgically removed last month. This one month or so, I've matured more than the last 26 years. At one point, I was really scared. I was really worried that I would die." She expressed that, this time, besides being for the pains of her endocrine imbalances, the surgery also allowed her to open up more to connect with her mother. While at the hospital, she was unable to control her emotions and tearily complained to her mom for 6 days and 6 nights, only sleeping when she became too tired to stay awake. Once awake, they would immediately continue bonding.

Ariel said that these past few years, although she controlled her diet, she still would gain weight and her periods were never on schedule. Last June, she had a full body exam which included a CT scan of her brain. It was finally discovered that the problem was in her brain. In the sella, there was an oval shaped tumor. Doctors said that the tumor was nearing the hypothalamus and if it grew any larger, it could have affected her vision. So early this year when she had some time off, she immediately had the operation done in February.

She recalled that: "Before getting full body anesthesia, I was actually very scared. My mom was also scared, so I acted very strong. Up until I was given the anesthesia, I pretended to be calm." Fortunately the surgery was successful. For the following 1 to 2 weeks, due to the operation, she would feel dizzy, sick to the stomach, have bloody noses, and most severely, she would have a short temper.

This whole time, when with her mom, she was very open. Unexpectedly, like a flood, she chatted nonstop with her mom. She said, "It's hard to describe. We expressed our feelings from the bottom of our hearts. Always before, our requests and torments have been invisible to each other. From picking out our faults, loving dearly, and encouraging each other, we found happiness together. We talked until we were hoarse. My mom kept telling me not to talk, but I continually talked for 6 days and 6 nights." Afterwards, she got a throat inflammation and went yesterday to the ENT for an exam.

Ariel's sickness led her to come to a realization. "Before I was always very strict with myself, but now I must change. Especially that both my mom are very restrained, and don't express our feelings. I must slowly change." Her health is in stable condition. In two months, she must return for a follow up. She is already preparing for an album.

Thanks so much for the info, xiaolong...I don't pay much attention to the TW/HK drama/movie scene so I had no idea it was that serious! I can't believe she had to go through all that, and it sucks that her boyfriend wasn't understanding enough about her career after everything. I'm glad she's doing better though and I'm looking forward to her in more movies! ^_^
