Based on the translations of Zhuo Bufan's appearance and Fang Dongbai's performance against ZWJ. How do the forum members view these 2 swordsmen in relative standing?

One was defeated by Xu Zhu, one by ZWJ.

I really like to see the opinions of you guys on SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan!

EDIT: To be fair, assume no Heaven Sword for Fang.

Might be helpful if you re-post the translations of Zhuo Bufan's appearance and Fang Dongbai's fight here. Then, people don't have to wade through an entire thread and differentiate fact from fiction, in the case of Zhuo Bufan.

Regrettably, you did say this is serious. So I had to be sincere for once.

Now, I personally hate Jin Yong, with a passion, for spoiling the mysticism and possibility of greatness, of SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan. There is a brief description in the book that took away all that glory, bringing SWORD GOD down to the common level. If he did not include that very short sentence, then SWORD GOD would seem, possibly, much more powerful, despite being embarrassed by Xuzhu. That sentence, is the most unpleasant and despicable of all, in wuxia fiction.

It shows that Only through diligent motivation, can we possibly influence readers to diverge their interest to thoroughly ignored characters. Our efforts have not been in vain. Over the past month, Many a reference hath been made to SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan whenever possible, and he has been the center of attention, the butt of hardly imaginable hype, the undeniable guest celebrity of late.

Now, I do think that if you and I could afford to take 30 years off and diligently pursue isolated perfection in peer motivation, we would be able to get the entire world to worship SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan.

If you click on the numbers, it brings you to a screen which shows who voted for what option. I voted for a draw. Partly because Fang had the Heaven Sword against a wooden sword for his one and only fight in the book, so we don't know for sure how much of a boost that gave him.

Since we are, at least trying to, have a serious discussion about SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan, I will present the despicable line which kind of flattens his greatness. The sentence goes like this-

卓不凡此次与不平道人、崔绿华联手，事先三人暗中曾相互伸量过武功内力，虽然卓不凡较二人为强，但也只稍胜 一筹而已

It is said that Zhuo Bufan was only slightly superior to 2 other guys. For some reason, I don't think those 2 other fellas are too hot in terms of martial arts. The Cotton Rose Princess demonstrated good skills with throwing flying weapons, but hardly impressive in the DGSD era. So, SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan being only a little better than her, makes him look quite weak IMO. Which would contradict the PEAK OF PERFECTION comment.
