Which character in wuxia fiction do you think suffered the most gruesome death scene?
All the people who were torn to death by the Six Fairies of Peach Valley in Smiling Proud Wanderer. Not only was death gruesome to the victims; it was also gruesome (and very messy) to onlookers.
The death by 6 Fairies of Peach Valley is an immediate death.
Only the bystanders feel gruesome seeing it. The victims wouldn't feel any pain at all.
So it cannot be perfectly called gruesome.
I think the deaths by "3 Corpse Brain" pill would be the most gruesome.

Then what is? Here gruesome doesn't mean torturous. Gruesome doesn't mean the pain inflicted, it refers to the grisly remains after the savage, brutal killings.Originally Posted by RongYingMin

I misunderstood the meaning of the word "gruesome".
But after reading your counsel, I still consider the death by "3 corpse brain pill" the most gruesome death.
Once the bugs in the pill released, they will deform the head of the victim and make him crazy as a mad dog.
I don't think anyone has actually been depicted dying of the "3 corpse brain pill" in SPW, so the deformities and changes in temperament are only "threats and hearsay" at best.Originally Posted by RongYingMin

Yang Kang's would be right up there.

So I'm not sure whether there's really someone who died of "3 corpse brain pill" in the novel or not.
But I believe that you're right because you're a Chinese also a translator.
In this case, the death by 6 Fairies certainly the most gruesome. You're absolutely right.
Also, I think the death caused by corpse - corroding - poison of Wei Xiao Pao could be considered gruesome. I don't remember exactly how many people died of this poison and what their names are in The Duke of Mount Deer.
Generally, IMO, deaths caused by poisons or poisonous animals are very gruesome.
