I'll give it a try.
We can classify martial arts into several categories, although of course there are many other equally valid methods to classify these arts.
1. Arts that predominantly cultivate internal energy. This would include 9 Yin, 9 Yang, Yijinjing
2. Arts that predominantly manipulate other people's energy/technique. This would include Beiming Shengong.
3. Arts that primarily develop external technique, Non-weapon. This would include Dragon Palms.
4. Arts that primarily develop weapon skills. Nothing on your list.

Could you explain further on the YJJ/9Yang part? I know they're skills that strengthens one's internal power. But what exactly does it do in detail? Does it turn all of one's internal into pure YJJ internal or 9Yang internal? Let's say there's a extremely-yin skill similar to skills like YJJ and 9Yang...if one learns it does it affect the power of other skills that are extreme-yang like HL18Z and 1YZ?

Could one learn 9Yang and 9Yin? Or 9Yang and YJJ? Does it affect extreme-yin skills when learning YJJ or 9Yang?
Wasn't Zhang San Feng the only person who learned the complete 9 Yin and Yang? I'm assuming anybody else who would try would suffer a fire deviation.Originally Posted by TommyH
A little off topic, but exactly why is it dangerous to learn both?
He never did so. He only had that portion of the 9 Yeung Jen Ging that he learned from the monk Gok Yeun many years earlier and, as far as we know, Cheung 3 Fung never learned the 9 Yum Jen Ging. As he was in the very last years of his long life by the end of HSDS, it's doubtful that he had the opportunity to do so.Originally Posted by CDonC

Not neccesary. It's difficult, but it somehow seems possible to combine 9 Yin/9 Yang. Apparently ZWJ felt that the grandmaster Z3F could do it, but then again, he has the best understanding and philosophy of martial arts in JY's Universe.Originally Posted by TommyH
If 9 Yang was to combine with XL18Z or Solitary Yang Finger, then theortically speaking, the situation of "achieving softness from extreme hardness" would be achieved. Strangely, XF wasn't described to have this case when H7G and GJ both did.
But HL18Z and 1YZ are completely different from skills like YJJ.Originally Posted by Whsie
