Default Could you pull things without the skill XF used?

I remember asking this question somewhere before but I forgot where and I remembered I wanted to discuss this to a further extent. So could martial artists just use their internal to pull objects? If the answer to that is yes then why was there a skill (the one XF uses) for pulling objects?

XF used a move from shaolin's dragon claws, called "dragon catching clouds" or something. there are a few skills like that in wuxia, mostly tricks to impress because it takes high level inner power and advanced proficiency to do. or if you want to snatch a weapon out of your opponents hand.

Couldn't you regularly snatch a weapon out of an enemy's hand? Isn't that the same as pulling something?

By the way, an alternative to pulling objects straight-up is to follow 3 simple steps. Step 1, blow the object up in the air; step 2, wait for it to come down; step 3, catch it.

You know, when I first saw Kiu Fung doing this, I thought he was using the Force.

And I guess he was...except it wasn't exactly the Force from STAR WARS.

Well, the Force is based on Qi... Your life, flows through all living things.

yeh basically you need high internal energy to do that, look at Zhou butong in ROCH, he was able to kick his shoe at the two taoist and direct back, all using his chi.

I have found that in chapter 48, Duan Yanqing tried to pull a weapon into his hands without physical contact. Unfortunately he was drugged so he could not successfully demonstrate this ability. However it certainly seemed like he was capable of it.

    Here is the text:
