    Cool Hu Ge (胡歌)

With the growing popularity of the RPG game turned series "Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan", it seems that people are also becoming more and more curious about Hu Ge. Just who is this guy that plays Li Xiao Yao? And hey, he has a pretty decent singing voice too! Here's what I've gathered about this promising young talent thus far. Please feel free to add, correct, or comment.

    Personal:

Name: Hu Ge ( 胡歌 )
    Birthdate: September 20, 1982
    Astrological sign: Virgo
    Height: 182 cm
    Weight: 72 kg
    Education: College
He was a third year college student at the Shanghai Theatrical Institute when he filmed "Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan".
    Favorite activities: Basketball, swimming, tennis

    Television series:

    2005:《天外飛仙》 (Tian Wai Fei Xian)
2004:《仙劍奇俠傳》 (Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan)
    2003:《蒲公英》 ( Pu Gong Ying)

He was one of the contenders for the role of Yang Guo in Zhang Ji Zhong's most recent Jin Yong adaptation (ROCH 2005), but eventually lost out to Huang Xiao Ming.

Lol. The Shanghai thing is really just a coincidence. Honestly though, I haven't actually fallen for him. Believe me, you'll know it if I ever do. It's just that I've noticed quite a few people inquiring/wanting to know more about him, so I thought I'd compile some info. He does seem to be pretty talented and worthy of some attention.

His face is so nice to look at---very fine features. But I agree, too nai you ~ very very feminine. However, that's what makes him perfect in ancient series and fantasy/wuxia stuff. I don't think he'll look good in a modern series though.

    The epitome of 'nai you':

For some reason, he reminds me of an anime guy.

There's an actress named Hu Ke. I think the name Hu Ge suits him well since he likes to sing...songs. 'Ge' also sounds like 'older brother' even though it's a different character.

    Heya Lady Zhuge!

This pic's one of my fav screenshots (I've got a whole folder I took as I was watching, hehe; couldn't resist!)...he looks so dreamy/contemplative

Which words "nai you" are you guys referring to? I was racking my brains trying to figure out what you're saying about him. Naive/young? Argh...vocab is still sadly lacking.

Lady Zhuge, do you mean he looks like an anime character/drawing? I think he's much shuai(er) than any weirdly proportioned cartoon (just my opinion though), plus he's real

I don't think of him as necessarily feminine. Just...pure? I get a similar feeling from Hu Ge as I do from Qiao Zhen Yu; somehow guys with their kind of look (like Vic Zhou) appeal to me. Plus they're all in my age range

Love his name Simple and descriptive. I thought of "older brother" too at first.

I think I found his official site, though I haven't had the time to sift through all the info that's on it. The midi song they're playing on their index page makes me wanna cry...

*Edit:This has gotta be Hu Ge's official site...there're so many lovely wallpapers and photos!!!

We're thinkin' 'nai you' as in creamy...meaning smooth and pure of complexion and make-up. Have you heard of the phrase "xiao bai lian 'er"? It's also kind of along those lines.

Lol, I don't mean that he reminds me of an anime dude 'cause he's disproportional. It's just that there are a lot of "pretty boys" in anime with their long hair and big eyes.

    Thanks for the site link!

Haha, cool! This is the first time I've heard "nai you" used as an adjective; no wonder I couldn't figure out what you guys were saying. Is that a new phrase or am I just totally out of the loop?

No problem about the screenshot; the more people who see his nai youness the better. Mmmmm...creamy

Yeah, I know the term 'xiao bai lian,' though isn't that usually used in a negative way to describe a useless guy who mooches off women or something like that? I guess I'd call him 'qing chun'-looking...and just plain shuai

I see what you mean about pretty boys and big eyes, though I still wouldn't compare him to anime. But I definitely would compare him to the lovely art for the Xian Jian game. I like him better than the drawing!
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.ihuge.net/pic/xjbz/xj19.jpg')

I really, really like this style of art because it's pretty realistic but also accentuates the most striking features of a face; I wouldn't call it anime though. Is there a name for it? I see a lot of people here have avatars of Chinese heroes and heroines drawn in this style (like 999roses, for instance) and I love 'em!

And ok...after seeing these pics of him, I gotta agree: he's got his feminine moments. But he's still hot

The reference has actually been around for quite awhile. One of my favorite mainland veteran actors (Tang Guo Qiang) was a posterboy for 'nai you' lian when he was a young man.

Yeah, usually that term is not used with positive connotations, but in my experience, guys referred to with that phrase tend to be pretty cute and/or handsome.

Hmm...the drawing doesn't really look like him to me. The real Hu Ge is much better looking.

I don't know what such art is called specifically. Anime-like art maybe?

Being faithful is good, although posting in other actors' threads doesn't mean you're "cheating" on him.

    I know , that's why I'm here

I actually think Hu Ge look kida "anime". Think he mentioned it once that one of the reason why he fits the role in XIan Jian is because he has a pretty cartonnish look.

Hu Ge's playful look reminds me of Jimmy Lin as Xiao Yu'er taunting Xiao La Jiao, especially when Xiao Yao was teasing Yue Ru. That michevious grin's so cuuuuuute!

About the game art style of many avatars floating around here, they all seem to be some kind of modern version of brush figure paintings. Anime in general's too lacking in tone and disproportioned for me to associate flesh-and-blood people with it just cuz they've got big eyes. That's merely my personal preference though; no offense to anyone.

Sigh...I gotta go spend some time in China and really learn all the little quirks of dialogue someday. Preferrably in Shanghai, though I'll be totally lost since I don't know Shanghainese.

annaij7211, I like Nie Yuan too; nothing wrong with admiring more than one actor. We can't cheat on them; it's not like we're dating them (which is a real shame)
