anywayz, just finished watching magicians of love and have became a fan of sam (i think he's the cutest in this group, but must admit that sometimes he looks rather old). anywayz, my mom however thinks ming dao is perfect and kept commenting on how he's very proportional and have good eyes, mouth, face, nose and eyebrows (only complaint was probably his hair in the show), and decent body. unfortunately, i couldn't see it. as for the group singing, can't say i'm a fan. hope they make more good shows to watch though.
How come most 江湖 (jiānghú) wanderers never worry about money? I wonder how a 大俠 (dàxiá) make a living...does meddling in people's business and righting wrongs pay well?

Yeah, I'm surprised with that too. Apparently, most ABCs don't retain their cultural heritage very well, but Jacky is exception. He seems to be very Taiwanese.

I have to side with your Mom (I'm a Ming Dao fan!). You have the same taste as my sister. I recently got her to watch Chinese series. She watched Frog Prince and Magicians of Love with me and have since became a fan of Sam. I think MD and Sam are great looking guys. Great to know there are gorgeous people like them

Yea, my mom said so too. At first my mom was wondering if Ming Dao and Sam had nose jobs since they had such nice looking noses. I then asked my mom if Sam or Ming Dao looked better, and she said Ming Dao right away... My mom is really critical when it comes to looks, and rarely compliments anyone for looks, but she complimented Ming Dao.. I love all their voices too. Jacky and Yu Rong are the lead singers in the group. Did you guys hear their most recent soundtrack, ANgel Lover?? Only Ming Dao, Jacky and Yu Rong were involved though. Sam and Johnny didn't sing with them for that one.

By the way, which forum of theirs is most active? Can you give me the address shirineko? Thanks! I am in the midst of translating a number of their articles and Ming Dao's book and would like to share with the fans there....

Yea I never would have guessed that Jacky was from Vancouver until I watched one of their shows where they're promoting, The Frog who Turned into a Frog, with 7 Flowers and one of the host asked him where he was from. And he spoke in very clear English that he's from Vancouver BC. That's just awesome. Props to him! Does anyone know why he returned to Taiwan?

I find these youtube clips to be very funny. it is when the 183 club guest on the game show wqyl and they play an english recognition game. it tested on how good they are at in english and surprisingly, jacky lost but I think it's b/c his english is too good, not b/c he sucks at it. the "you are so fat!"/"you look so phat!" part (part 3) was very funny, as well as "my boy" (part 4) as well as "how much" as a greeting (part 5)

haha...i was thinking the same thing when i saw the pictures. i also did some research about some asian bands. they all tried to look the same. they tried to look cool but it turned out to be somehow gayish...no offense.
BUT...it's not like i don't like them or something. i actually liked Ming Dao and Sam from the Frog Prince. and actually liked the soundtracks they had for the series. i admit that they are good singers and actors, though.

About Jacky, I heard from the very beginning that he was from Vancouver, Canada. Also, when he sings the English parts for the songs, it is really clear so he either was born or grew up in an English speaking country. I heard he returned to Canada due to his career... He wasn't having much luck in Canada. He does come back to Canada when he can though. You can hear Jacky speak English in Magicians of Love at some parts. His English is really clear. YOu hear Ming Dao speak it sometimes too, but he has a big accent. However, he grew up in Taiwan so of course he can't be fluent and clear like Jacky. I heard Sam speak it in some behind the scenes footage of the MVs and stuff, even though he has an accent as well, his English isn't too bad.

His brother is James in case some of you don't know. James is a singer, songwriter and song producer too.

I am shocked that Jacky lost!! I guess it was because his English is too good. Victor and James' English is good too. Thanks for the links Mystic Dust. I should watch that sometime... by the way, who won??

ming dao won but his answers were a bit confusing cuz he decided to use props in the middle (too lazy to hold up his hands, perhaps?) but i think it's because everyone was paying too much attention on jacky and shaowei to notice some of ming dao's wrong answers. Huang Yu Rong has horrible english, by the way. lol

Thanks shirineko! Is that the full address? I will go there sometimes. Really?? I don't know about the worshipping part, but I know that they will really love to read translations or anything about Ming Dao or 183 Club...

    To mysticdust,
Thanks for the info! Oh so Ming Dao won?? I am shocked since his english doesn't seem that good, but is better than Yu ROng's right? I heard Yu Rong's english isn't that bad. I have heard Sam speak English before and it is ok. I have heard Ming Dao speak it a little before(by the way, if you watch Magicians of love in Chinese, you hear ALL Of them speak a little bit of English) and it is ok as well...I am still shocked that Jacky lost.. I bet he was as well...

i swear, i live on youtube now-a-days. anywayz, here's some clips that's a must see if you are a 183 club fan.

Summary: On Aug 12, 2006, the boys appeared on 綜藝大哥大 (Zong yi da ge da: taiwanese show that airs on sunday in selected areas? "Big Entertainment Brothers"?) and learned some dance moves through the telephone game method (one guy learns dance moves and pass it along and the last in the chain compared moves w/ the instructor). Shaowei (Sam) proved that while he may not be a good singer, he's an awesome dancer. FanGang (jacky) demostrated his innovation. Yurong (ehlo) needs a lot more practice. Xingshu (Johnny) and Mingdao (matthew) are lost causes.

JACKY CHU IS NO LONGER PART of 183 CLUB

    Dismissal from 183 Club

On June 9, 2007, it was reported that Jacky has been dropped from 183 Club and its management company due to Jacky's image being battered by his heavy late night partying and crazy lovelife. 183 Club group manager De-Rung Suan (孫德榮) confirms the dismissal saying, "183 Club is a group; it does not belong to a single person. I know there has not been previous cases [of dropping members from musical groups] before in the entertainment industry [in Taiwan], but for everyone's good, mereing stopping his workload is not the way; I directly kicked him out of 183 Club." ("183 Club是團隊,不是哪一個人的,我知道在演藝圈沒這個先例,但為了大家好,光是冷凍他也不行,我直接踢他 出183 Club。") [1]

We have talked about this a lot at Asianfanatics already. I have been really really sad about this.... I still can't believe the Jacky is no longer a part of 183 Club since in my heart, he is forever a part of 183. THe other members all consider him like a brother and wish the best for him....
