Default defense and offense of the 5 mountain schools

I have been following on the translation on XAJH in the translation forum... and i came across this few lines...

the Heng-Shan School's sword art was defensively very tight

But Heng-Shan School's sword art could be said to be one of the sword arts with the least amount of flaws in them. If speaking about their defence, they were just slightly below Wudang School's 'Taiji Sword Art'. But talking about how they could suddenly attack, these sword arts were above 'Taiji Sword Art'
when Taiji sword art is mentioned here, i assumed that this is not the same as the one that ZSF had taught to ZWJ in hsds... so if one takes XAJH's Taiji sword art as a standard of comparing, where would the other 4 mountain schools swordplays stand when compared to this Taiji sword in terms of offense and defense?

Does this mean that the defense of all the other 4 schools were inferior to Heng Shan's and TaiJi's?

the five schools were more or less equal to each other. each swordplay had it's own strenghts and weaknesses.

After Zhang Sanfeng passed away and Zhang Wuji went to Mongolia, the GENUINE Taichi Sword art no longer existed under Heaven.
Taichi sword art in Xiao Ao Jiang Hu really declined compared to that in HSDS.

It wasn't confirmed directly, but from what Jin Yong wrote, we can come to that conclusion by deduction:
    - Achievement in Taichi Sword art was great or not, that depends on the enlightenment of the practitioners.
    - In HSDS, other than Zhang Sanfeng, there was only Zhang Wuji who had the ability to reach the ultimate acme of this sword art.
Besides, also from what Jin Yong wrote:
    - In HSDS, Tai chi sword art was a kind of no-move-sword art.
    - In Xiao Ao Jiang Hu, Tai chi sword art of Priest Chong He didn't reach that level.

Even so, the fight between Linghu Chong and Priest Chongxu on Wudang Mountain was more or less equal in terms of result. Therefore, can we assume that Dugu 9 Sword cannot be compared with the real Taiji sword art by Z3F?

    No, I don't think so.
In XAJHu, if keeping fighting Chongxu would lost. He gave up before he would really be defeated.
When LHC went up Shaolin temple to rescue Yingying, Chongxu didn't dare to fight him.
But I don't think Taichi sword art of Zhang Sanfeng was above Dugu 9 Jian because both were no-move-sword art.
In XiaoAoJiangHu, it seems that Jin Yong wrote that at the end of Zhang Sanfeng's lifetime, he ONLY used WOODEN SWORD to overcome any opponent.
Dugu Qiubai could do so as well.

Actually, nobody knows where Cheung Mo Gei went after the story of HSDS ended. Some have speculated that he might have returned to the place of his birth (Ice Fire Mountain), but Jin Yong has never spoken on this matter.

This doesn't necessarily mean the art was lost/diluted. Instructions could have been left even if in certain generations there was no one talented enough to reach a high level in it. That is unless, the art can only be transferred by persons and that the receiver could not achieve more than the demonstrator knew.
