Takashi's hair is a fright in Tiger & Dragon. It's like Elvis' met a mullet! His character is not very likeable either, but he's still cute.

I'm not used to the type of humor in this serial, but it's growing on me. I think I'll keep watching.

    Takashi is like..."ah um...."...

Video from that event (Wacoal Bra Showcase): http://youtube.com/watch?v=e-jBR-wCLe4
I wish I could understand Japanese. It sounds like Takashi said some funny stuff during the press conference.

Here's a nice picture video of Takashi: http://youtube.com/watch?v=m8wjlUKS65Y

    His smile is really irresistible!

    Lady Zhuge,

I can tell you like Takashi a lot and a lot has got to do with that smile of his.

OoOo yes Lady Zhuge Tsukamoto's hot especially when he unleashes that devastating smile. Haha I first noticed him when he appeared in a bit role in Psychometrer Eiji II as a gang leader and totally adore him when he plays punks or delinquents which is a far cry from his rather nerdish looking role in Teppan Shojo Akane now.

More higher profile roles for him please!

Okay, you got me. BTW, I noticed that episodes of KDO have been uploaded onto youtube if you're interested in taking a peek. Here are the episode 1 links:

How do you like Teppan Shojo Akane so far? I fastforwarded through the first episode to get an idea of how much screentime Takashi would have in there considering he's billed as a male lead. He does look nerdy with those big glasses, but still cute as always!

I know, it's so hard to find a good series in which he has a LEAD role. Have you seen Tiger & Dragon? He has a supporting role in there too.

This is a short and funny clip of Takashi in an eating contest: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6LvM67yw6Ys
His reaction is hilarious. It seems like he has quite a personality.

    Lady Zhuge,

    Thanks for the links.

btw, welcome to the world of Japanese entertainment! I am so hooked on to Japanese variety shows, they are a really good gateway to getting more glimpses of the celebrities you like and support and they are usually so entertaining!!

Though Takashi has not quite caught on to me, but I understand the fandom state you are in currently and I would say " Enjoy Girl!"

I find them enjoyable too even if I'm not sure what's going on most of the time. Japanese series are really great in that they're short and hardly ever draggy, but I have to read subtitles which limits multitasking. Haha, I think Yamapi is enough for you to handle for now, eh?

Must-see clip from About Love (Shanghai) with Takashi and Li Xiao Lu: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_uKsWGpF5mQ
"Te quiero"...aw...funny when he thought it meant "goodbye", but sad when...

I think the nerdiness factor is somewhat negated by the presence of Takashi's earring and hair.

And if baidu continues to forbid such linking, these are the original sources:

Yes, they are very enjoyable even though I don’t understand the language at all. Its amazing how we can still be ticked with the language barrier.

In addition to Yamapi stuff, I also watch a lot of Arashi stuff…you may wish to check them out…they are very funny and heart-warming at times. I recommend Mago Mago Arashi where the guys will be grandsons to a set of grandparents for a day. Btw, Arashi is another group from JE, a rather unconventional JE group as some of us feel. Currently, they also just started a new segment where they are babysitters for a day.

Only Pi has ever made me feel that he has a devastating smile so though this is a Takashi thread, I still reserve that special honour for him

I guess even the term "devastating" has different meanings for everyone. Yamapi and Takashi are very different in terms of looks (and I think personality as well). I'm sure I'll like Yamapi more and more when I watch Nobuta Wo Produce, Dragon Zakura, etc.

Cross-dressing shot from Teppan Shojo Akane:

I came across a nice online community for TakaC fans: http://community.livejournal.com/tsukamoto_/

Currently I'm really enjoying Tiger & Dragon, but wishing Takashi had more screentime and watching Teppan Shoujo Akane, but wishing it was actually a good serial which could better utilize Takashi's potential. And I was so looking forward to his matchup with Horikita Maki too. Bleh. It's hard to find a happy medium sometimes.

Thanks for the great photos Lady Zhuge. Takashi's so cute when young. I say I've given up watching Teppan Shoujo Akane. It can't hold my interest and is really underutilising Takashi's acting ability. He hasn't had his big break like other actors in his age group yet. I really look forward to the day he gets his first lead role. When will that be and will he be able to draw audiences???

Did you catch him in this drama special, Great Detective Akafuji Takashi at the beginning of the year? http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Meitantei_Akafuji_Takashi earlier this year?

Oh yes, he was so kawaii even back then and, well, nothing's changed. I've always wondered if his lips are just naturally that red? Based on his childhood pics, they appear to just have a natural glow and don't need much lipstick/gloss.

I really want to watch Great Detective Akafuji Takashi for Takashi and since I love the mystery genre, but I can't find it with subs. Same for Psychometrer Eiji (1 and 2, even though Takashi only has a minor role in part 2). I guess the latter is too old. Since you've been there, how would you gauge Takashi's popularity in Japan? He's in so many productions, but definitely needs that breakthrough role. Teppan Shoujo Akane seemed promising on paper, but the result is indeed disappointing. Ratings are pretty low as well, but deservedly so. I hope audiences don't give up on Takashi, though!

Don't worry, I don't think audiences are giving up on Takashi. I too do not understand why some find fame easier than others. if he has the looks and the acting chops, he just needs the chance.

I think a significant part of it has to do with luck...sometimes fame finds them instead of the other way around.

I have all these dramas but they only come with Chinese subtitles. Takashi is popular but he doesn't belong to the wildly popular league. And I believe that he will be confined to supporting roles probably because of the image he has been saddled with. I'm not sure whether auditioning is required for dramas but if roles are written with actors in mind, then he will have to hope hard for a big break. I think he can give Tetsuji Tamaya a run for his money but maybe Tsukamoto lacks the build to portray certain characters?

I do find the results surprising. half of the names I have no idea who they are (I think I am going to find out more) and some I didn't quite expect on the list. On the other hand, names which I expected might show up more are not there too. Maybe, my exposure to Japanese male celebrities are just too shallow i.e. limited to JE guys. One that particularly ticked me was Domoto Tsuyoshi as the 2nd guy most females want to marry! I do find him very funny mostly but still that was a surprise.

I prefer to watch foreign series with English subs, but if they don't become available, I will go the Chinese subtitles route.

Thanks for posting the lists. Like strawberry, I only recognize a handful of those names...Abe, Teppei, Junichi, Tomoya, Ken, Kenji, Takuya, and Yamapi. I will certainly be googling to rest to see who they are. I'm a little surprised Sorimachi Takashi isn't on any of the lists. Could it be that his sex appeal has diminished somewhat since the "married" and "daddy" labels were applied? As for our Takashi (hereby referred to as TakaC), he seems to be pretty popular on JDorama.com. He even received more votes than Fukuyama Masaharu.

I looked up Tetsuji Tamaya and he is definitely good looking. I haven't seen him in any series yet though, so I have no clue about his acting abilities.

It's true that TakaC doesn't have the build of a typical leading man as he's too skinny and not very tall. However, there are much shorter leading actors (like Okada Junichi and Domoto Tsuyoshi) out there. I wouldn't mind if him put on more muscle kind of like how Yamapi's done in recent years. While appearances can always be altered, I'm more and more impressed with TakaC's versatility as an actor even just in supporting roles. From the computer genius in Battle Royale to the lovable underling in KDO to the King of Sex in Stand Up!! to N.E.E.T. Gin Gin turned 2nd boss in Tiger & Dragon...all I can say is...show me more!!! He really has the potential to break out of whatever mold he's been placed in because I am equally convinced whether he's a loudmouth rag-tag gang member with dyed hair or when he's delivering seriously dramatic lines.
