That's the only adaptation I watched so far, and I felt that while it was quite accurate in regards to the original story, I found it rather boring at times, especially towards the ending.

    Default Chapter 27 – Part 10

I am glad you enjoy this novel after so many adaptations out there ....
The reason I brought it up is that so often this thread is so quiet. No, no, no ... I am not complaining; just comparing it to other stories, where people make guesses on what will happen next. I thought perhaps everybody is really familiar with the story so no more surprises. Or perhaps this story is so predictable. Anyway, here is the last part of Chapter 27. IcyFox ... your turn.

Thank you, Foxs_, for bring us readers a great translation of chapter 27.
Yea, through so many adaptations so far, almost everybody are familiar with the content of LOCH already so this thread is not as animated as the SPW thread or the Siblings thread. But that doesn't mean we are not eager to read the translation.
Furthermore, I think the most interesting and debatable parts of LOCH are still waiting ahead, .
Yang Guo & Zhou Botong said in Chapters 6, 11 & 25 of ROCH:
    - 这道姑也算得美了,只是还不及桃花岛郭伯母,更加不及我姑姑。
    - 原来郭伯母竟是这般美貌,小时候我却不觉得。
    - 龙姑娘,我瞧你品貌才智,和那小黄蓉不相上下,武功也跟她差不离。

hmm. i wonder how Yang Kang is going to get out of this one.

I've never seen any of the adaptations, or read the books anywhere but here. I came to this story after reading ROCH, so in a sense I know how it will end up - but I'm very much interested in how they get there.

Hehe, YK's in trouble now, HR's intelligence should be able to utterly defeat his schemes. Still, I wonder how he gets away.

Thanks foxs for completing the chapter and posting regularly.

As for the quiteness of the thread, all the LOCH translators post big chunks of translations and that too continually everyday. Not like other translators ( With all due respect to all of them ) who stop the translation with a few paras as there is a heart clinching moment so as to raise the interst of the readers and keep them guessing. But i really like ur kind of translations where we get a big chunk of translation to read everyday ( I am being a bit greedy but what with such wonderful wuxia novels and such beutiful translations i would have to be a monk to resist such temptness ). Please do continue the amazing work and i prefer ur way of big chunks everyday and completing the chapters within a matter of days. Thanks for that.

Regarding the TV adaptations, I have just seen one and that too ROCH 2006, but however hard anyone tries none can never give the pleasure i derive while reading wuxia. The reason for this maybe because the TV adaptations do not show what a paricular character is thinking at a point in the story or what emotion he is feeling they just embark on martila arts aspect more. Also when we read we are free to imagine many things like how the person looks, how will he be performing his martial skills. how the women blush, the mountains, the scenery, there is a vast area left to imagine. However in the TV series we have to accept what the production team would afford. Also while reading we pit ourselves as the hero or the heroine in the story but while watching the series we just see Huang Xiao Ming or Liu Ye Fei.

Thanks for the translations and pls do continue as ur doing great.

    Thumbs up

Foxs....I know NOTHING at all about this story, so every translation is simply a delight for me. Your translations are one of the few things I look forward to every day (no kidding). It's the best of both worlds, I get to read enough to be daily entertained, but not so much that I totally neglect all my other duties.

Anyway, I have tried to discuss these posts more, but to little response. Oh well, I'm a wuxia newcomer, and unlike everyone else I have a lot to learn. Keep doing what you do, bro.

    KChill,

Sorry about the lack of responses to your posts.

Most ppl here, like me, would have known the stories from the start to the end, and just wanted to avoid creating spoilers for others. Now, obviously, if one of the translators translate a totally new story, i would spam that topic every week.

Ah... Well, I've been following the translations for awhile and don't know the stories either... Sometimes I've wanted to respond to the comments and stuff, but I'm a lazy guy... just registered right now in one of my "ah well.. might as well get it over with" moments... I'll try to respond now that actually can.. ^^
Love the translations, thanks a bunch! (Especially love the daily updates... as I'm a former fanfic junkie...)

Heh, I've never read or watched LOCH before either, but you can kinda guess what's going to happen after reading ROCH.

This is exactly what I always understood, but obviously I was wrong, since many of you have expressed that you have never seen the adaptations. So thanks for clarifying that to me. I can also understand completely Han Solo's sentiment, since I have loved wuxia for a long time that I am familiar with some other novels, for example: Legendary Siblings. Sometimes I was tempted to answer some questions, but I was afraid to give away spoilers. Yet, sometimes I have the feeling I was the only one in this thread since I posted several updates in a row and not single soul posted anything. Again, I am not complaining; alone or not, as much as it is in my power to do so, I try to post daily updates.

Chapter 28 is translated by IcyFox. I don't know his progress. Hopefully he will post his work soon. Chapter 29 thru the end of the novel are assigned to me, since nobody else was willing to answer my call last year. I do hope you won't get bored with my style.

I tihkn I'll just be thankful PJ and CC aren't translating this, or the chapter would have ended with SWORD GOD Zhuo Bufan appearing from nowhere to rescue Guo Jing and Huang Rong, and the collected members of the Beggars Clan applauding in appreciation at his wondrous swordplay, now having reached the peak of perfection judging by the accuracy and speed of his sword positioning.

That's not my point. As much as I like to hear your appreciation (I am still a normal human being, afterall), but I like it better when our thread is alive with discussion, banter, jokes (IcyFox's specialty, I might add ), et cetera. Just to get the feeling of togetherness (for lack of better word). Do you now what I mean?

Anyway, I have some extra time this morning, just a little break from my busy-ness at work, so I have time to stop by this thread again and enjoy other fine translations. I don't care if some people call us 'jokers', but I do enjoy all translations work in this forum.

Disrupt, do you think you have time to send me your html file on the ROCH downloadable pdf site? (pm me if you don't have my email). I'd like to continue our project a few months ago. If Unlimited is still around, perhaps he can host our website, otherwise I'll just host it myself (my space is limited, only 10MB).

    Oh, goodness me...

I'm embarassed to admit that I've not started yet. I'm sorry to say that once again, the progress of this project is being hindered all thanks to none other than me. Yes, James, I know you have something to say. Fire away.

    Foxs.

I sincerely think you have been an amazing translator so far. Your work was very fun to read and I fell in love with reading your parts even though I have seen all the adaptations already. It even became my habit to check this website everyday. So I would like to pass on my appreciation and hope you enjoy your deserving break.

Well done foxs_! You are truly amazing!
I too miss the banter we had early on with the second half of ROCH when we had BeeDreamer and rayon to liven the thread and Athena's patient helpful hints and guidance.

Going to update the unabrdged thread?

    IcyFox: No harassing from me...but
My proof readers, Bangs and dgfds01 [who owes me some chapters ] are very strapped for time so we are waaaay behind you guys. [this is not a defensive position for you to hide behind]

    Foxs,

I understand your sentiment, and for the record, would like to thank you and all the translators profusely for translating the LOCH. For me not to post anything, does not meant that i do not read or appreciate your translations.

I guess, i'm pretty old school in that i use the wuxia translation forum to read and post translations, but discuss things in the wuxia fiction discussion forum. This habit stem from when the wuxia section was separated into the two sub-forums.
