Default Mo Yung F'uk, Ah Chu, and Ah Bik

Mo Yung F'uk was so singlemindedly focused on the goal of restoring the Yin Kingdom that he had no time or attention for anything else, especially not romance. Therefore, it's not surprising that he took no personal interest in either Ah Chu or Ah Bik. After all, they were merely assistants to his goal.

Still, his utter disregard for Ah Chu seems a bit surprising. Even if he had no personal feelings towards her, it's odd that he didn't seem to care or even be aware of the fact that one of his two assistants went *missing*. Ah Chu not only left Mo Yung F'uk's service, but became intimate with Mo Yung F'uk's rival and potential foe Kiu Fung, and then died. I don't remember Mo Yung F'uk even casually asking or wondering once what happened to Ah Chu. He completely disregarded her; it's as if she didn't exist.

We also never saw any "screentime" between Mo Yung F'uk and Ah Chu together (and barely any with Mo Yung F'uk and Ah Bik either), so we don't really know what their working relationship was like. Ah Chu and Ah Bik were both pretty loyal to their employer, but I don't think he reciprocated with any appreciation for either of them.

It is indeed a big mind-boggling. Sometimes I think the connections between all the characters in DGSD make their isolated individual stories a bit hard to swallow.

In the novel, after Murong Fu almost got wiped out by Ding Chunqiu, Murong Fu and his assistants did miss Ah Zhu (took them a while to realize "oh, she's not here any more" but hey, they were busy avoiding Duan Yu the whole time), and they went to the city of Luoyang looking for her. After failing to find Ah Zhu, they continued to head West. Eventually they ran into the 72 Islands/36 Caves, and thus began the saga of the SWORD GOD.

in fact, MRF did go looking for her but more important matters always came up, remember, she was only a servant girl in his house, so she has to come second in many matters.

MRF went looking for her? I bet I missed that...

I think MRF cared about her to a certain extent...and if he didn't care about her, the Murong household did, to the point where A Zhu wasn't treated like a servant. But MRF was never big on women...he was more power hungry. I mean, he wouldn't even pay any attention to Wang Yuyan, and she's supposed to be the beautiful and high-class lady (I personally think WYY was beautiful, but might not have ranked extremely high on the beauty scale then, since MRF didn't give a crap about her and just used her to his advantage), while A Zhu is clever and also quite pretty, but basically this girl the Murong household took in.

Jin Yong should have written a novel about Mo Yung F'uk, Ah Chu, and Ah Bik and called it THREE'S COMPANY.
