From the rumour mill, Japan Today's Shukan Post Watcher,

Juri Ueno, who stars in the Fuji TV drama “Nodame Cantabile,” is a relatively new face who was once spotted on a date at a Korean restaurant in Daikanyama with the popular comedian Shingo Fujimori of Oriental Radio, but now word has gotten around that she is having a “special relationship” with actor Hiroshi Tamaki, her co-star in the Fuji TV drama.

“They are always together on or off camera,” one crew member said. “There is also a rumor that she had asked the producer of the drama to create an episode in which she would have a kissing scene with Tamaki.”

She has a good reputation as an actress. “She is not particularly beautiful nor does she stand out from the rest in any way,” said Masahiro Kitagawa, a drama critic. “But when the camera is rolling, she shines.” She is known to confront staff at times and is also known to talk very casually even to directors, but it is often positively perceived as “enthusiasm and desire to create a good program,” according to her agent.

jade, I decide to believe this rumor. They just seem so close and comfortable with each other on Smap bistro that I think this is looking pretty convincing. They better get married and have children too later on. (I can't believe I want to plan their future. )

Btw, I did catch the women's island special and Shosuke's appearance was so minimal. Oh well...

Haha! But it is possible that they can be really great friends too. Such rumours are good for viewership too. I totally agree that they look great and comfortable with each other.

I hear that there's some dispute going on over the English subbing of Nodame Cantabile due to one very irresponsible forum member harrassing and insulting the dedicated team on countless points from the time the subbed episodes are released to the quality of the subs, and how siantut is quitting. It's ridiculous how some people expect someone who's doing this in his or her free time to be at their service, and killing their passion in the process.

Yeah, Shosuke's appearance is small. Unfortunately. I suppose that has to do with the title being Women's Island. The men are just secondary, fleeting characters. I didn't enjoy the special very much. January is drawing near, so you'll soon be having a double dose of Shosuke soon!!! Meanwhile maybe you should check out and see whether there are any variety shows with him as guest/host. I read some news on Oricon that he'd be appearing in one of the shows on a regular basis but didn't manage to go into the details. Will try to find out more.

I do hope they'll star in another drama together. I completely concur with Nakai's comment about them looking good as a couple. Tamaki doesn't seem to dislike the idea. I don't know about Juri. (Hopefully she's considering it.)

Yeah I went to d-addicts and it was amazing that in a matter of a couple of hours two threads were locked due to one whiny individual. They should have banned him instead. Anyhow, I don't think siantut is quitting. She probably won't be back to d-addicts that's all.

The thing is that I endured a couple days of download for this huge file just to find out how bad it is. So I skimmed through it and threw it right out the trash bin. Oh well, I just had to watch it for myself.

As for Tamaki, I also did watch a little of Last Christmas on youtube. Sure enough Tamaki didn't show up all that often. He looked so different though. It seems to me everytime he plays a character with just a little change of appearance he gave a totally different feeling. And now after watching the Smap bistro I like him a lot more since he's such a nice guy in real life (so much so that I'm thinking about younger men again. (cough) If Juri doesn't want him I'll fight for him. So I'll have Shosuke on one arm and Tamaki on the other. I know I'm becoming too corrupted and sinful.)

Heh did you realise Juri said she can cook good Natto Omelette? It sounds like a queer combination.

Hmm Tamaki said he worked in a restaurant for quite a few years before he entered showbiz. I wonder how he came into the entertainment circle. Was he scouted? Won some talent contest? Moved over from modeling? Tamaki's one of the rare actors who can make a switch from one character to another and portray his roles so convincingly. He was quite a cad as Naoya in Last Christmas but I still found him a dashing, suave romantic back then. Way hotter than Oda Yuji. Haha aren't you getting a little too greedy and lusty now Grifis?

I didn't know the Nodame Cantabile thread was locked too!!! I didn't even realise this fella was creating such a ruckus until it carried over to that thread. He should be skewered/roasted.

Thrilled by Shosuke's unexpected appearance, I was silly enough to sit through the whole special but I thrashed it too. Oh well, here are some variety programmes he will be appearing in. On 24 December, he'll be one of the hosts in Fuji TV's travelogue special "The World's 100 Most Scenic Views". 6 January he will be a guest in Oujisama's Brunch (King's Brunch).

Yeah I wonder why she mentioned that in particular. Don't know how natto tastes but it does sound like weird combination (from what I heard of natto). I thought that Tamaki could cook (when I was watching the drama) and in the Smap bistro he mentioned he worked part-time in a restaurant so that explains why he chopped like a pro in the drama. I noticed how Juri showed fascination with the fact that Tamaki eat chocolate in the morning. Tamaki knows Juri likes fish (more than meat.) It was cute how they made little comments to each other during the show. When Tamaki put a whole chunk of croquette in his mouth and it was too hot, Juri was like "it's hot isn't it?" While Tamaki was eating the grilled beef tongue Juri was saying something to him but of course he didn't hear a thing because he was concentrated on eating and Takuya caught that. Juri was like "that's terrible" and Tamaki felt bad for not listening to her so he said 'It's really delicious' to Juri. Then when Tamaki mentioned a name of the rice bowl and Juri noticed that he's from Nagoya because people from Nagoya call that specifically. I like the part when Juri was talking to Tamaki asking why he doesn't like citrus and he didn't hear a thing while he was eating again so he only mentioned the same answer "yes, I don't like it." (Juri was talking in such a cute way to Tamaki and Tamaki was responding warmly.) The other part that I like was when they were supposed to decide the winner so Tamaki walked away to the corner and expected Juri to follow. He turned around just to see Juri was still sitting there. While still chewing, he stood there patiently (and didn't say a word) waiting for her to walk toward him. That was cute.

Hmm Tamaki said he worked in a restaurant for quite a few years before he entered showbiz. I wonder how he came into the entertainment circle. Was he scouted? Won some talent contest? I wonder how he got into acting and singing too. He said he was still doing part-time at the restaurant while he was working as an actor ('cause that didn't earn him enough.) So I guess he entered showbiz but was working on the side to support his stepping stones.

Haha aren't you getting a little too greedy and lusty now Grifis?
Greed is a human weakness and I have many imperfections. I can't help but succumb to such beauty and charm. Tamaki truly won me over with his super nice guy personality. I promise there are only two in my harem, Shosuke and Tamaki.

I didn't know the Nodame Cantabile thread was locked too!!! I didn't even realise this fella was creating such a ruckus until it carried over to that thread. He should be skewered/roasted.
I'm rather disturbed that they decided to lock the Nodame Cantabile thread which is a innocent victim of this foolishness.

Chances of me catching those are close to none because I don't have any access to that and I doubt if anyone will upload those.

i've juz been to D-addicts as well - really dissapointed to read those posts.
i'm wondering tho, now tat siantut quit, does that means that nodame cantabile's subbing will be stopped as well? it'll be really sad.

Don't worry the subbing will go on as the show would. (Heck, I'm getting tired of xmas shopping today. I don't want to go back to the mall and exhaust my wallet anymore.) Anyhow, while waiting for ep 9 to load, I'm putting up for more bistro caps.

Yes Juri stares at hot Tamaki some more.

    ahh... Tamaki returns the favor.

and so their eyes meets (doki doki)

Juri 'ehhh?' smiles to Tamaki chocolate in the morning comment.

Such affectionate face he shows when he looks at Juri

She of course returns the favor. Aren't you happy Tamaki? yes.

(They were talking about women underclothing and Tamaki wipes his drool. What is he thinking?)

Juri guesses 'chestnut' (in the wrap?)

    'Chestnut?' No, it's not chestnut.

    It's delicious isn't it?

    uh huh..

What are you doing (to my fish)?

But it's so crunchy and easy to break...

    Takuya is not happy.

Tamaki really wants to finish up the fish but it's time to move to the second dish.

Tamaki is amazed at how good the green noodles dish is. He starts floating.

He's checking to see if Juri is eating ok.

    Wahh he really likes it.

'Are you playing Chiaki senpai?' Goro asks.

Wahh it must be really good.

It's so good he wants to finish the whole bowl but

Tsuyoshi from the other team reminds 'uh you haven't tasted our food so (don't eat too much)'

    right right...

He floats again after tasting the croquette from the other team.

    Takuya replay his act.

He take the whole chunk of croquette with caviar.

    He's tasting it...

but it must be really hot..

Juri asks it's hot isn't it? yeah it's hot.

He floats again after tasting the cow tongue and is not listening to Juri

but still manages to say uh huh in the end.

    She keeps going...

and he's not listening. After a while he realizes the food is really 'delicious'

Juri: that's terrible (for not listening to me). Tamaki: It's really delicious (reason why I was so focused.)

Shingo feels bad that Tamaki coughs because of his food. Reason for the service.

Shingo: Even if you open the lid, there's nothing inside. Tamaki: right right.

tamaki pours the whole garnish dish into the bowl of rice.

    He coughs again.

Shingo is alarmed. "It's not citrus."

"It's citrus." (Tamaki and Juri in unison)

    Shingo: "It's LEMON."

    Almost choked.

    This is good.

"Even just eating warm rice makes us happy."

"Yeah. You really don't like salted plum?"

    "Right, I don't like it"

    But it's good.

    "I don't like it."

Okay, the last batch and I'll be done with my spamming.

(Juri knows he doesn't listen to a word she says)

He got up and expected Juri to follow but she's still sitting there...

Still chewing, he turns back and waits for her (without saying anything)

Nakai: Tamaki-san is nice isn't he?

Nakai: Maybe the romance will continue after the drama? Tamaki smiles.

    Is that right?

    Why, you don't like me?

Nakai: You don't like him? Juri: No, that's not what I mean.

    (Tamaki is happy?)

Takuya: Tamaki-san is great. Tamaki: No no....

Thank you so much Grifis. I only wish the pictures of Tamaki were bigger!

We finally understand why Nodame reacted in such an averse manner to Harisen in Ep9. Nodame Cantabile has been such a thoroughly enjoyable drama that I can't believe it will all come to an end on Christmas Day. No more Chiaki-sama. I hope we get a long Ep11 as a Christmas treat.

Ep 9 was nice. Here are the caps:

Chiaki is afraid of being in the plane but Mine is afraid of being misunderstood as having strange inclination.

He's in a frenzy to buy all sorts of things for Nodame. Poor Mine.

    He brought them all back.

However felt really sad when Nodame wasn't there.

He tells Eto-sensei's wife to make sure that EVERYONE eats them.

He's sad again to see Nodame no longer needs him.

(sorry let me wipe my drool)

Nodame is thinking of Chiaki when eating the crabs he brought back.

    Thinking of her Chiaki-senpai

Chiaki is happy to see her mail.

    (to be continued)

I think Tamaki is getting popular in Japan with this serial as well. Have seen quite a few Jap mags with him on the cover.

    Ep 9 bulleted summary:

-Chiaki went to Hokkaido (as instructed by Nodame in the hypnosis) to overcome his fear.
-He brought Mine along for moral support and went on a frenzy buying stuff for Nodame when he got there.
-He lugged the stuff back just to find Nodame away at Eto-sensei's practicing. He left the stuff with Eto-sensei's wife and hinted that Nodame gets to eat it.
-Eto-sensei found out she worked so hard to get a scholarship just so she could go to Europe with Chiaki.
-Chiaki got mail from Nodame thanking for his crabs feast. He was happy to receive her mail.
-Strezeman came back and asked Chiaki to come to Europe. Chiaki was hesitating for some reasons.
-Nodame received mail from Chiaki and was happy. She had problem practicing but somehow felt as if Chiaki was guiding right beside her so she became calm and play nicely. She did well at her performance.
-Nodame met Chiaki and told him that she needed to practice some more eventhough Chiaki offered to cook for her. He appeared sad after she thanked him for the crab. Nodame then wanted to know when he'll go to Europe but he hesitated on the answer so Nodame was mad and yelled at him. Chiaki was shocked.
-Eto-sensei saw Chiaki and told him that Nodame worked so hard because of him. Chiaki was in disbelief and touched.
-On the day of her competition, she saw this guy who triggered her memories of the time when her teacher was hitting her probably during elementary. She didn't perform as well as she did before. Chiaki and Eto-sensei who watched her in the audience showed worries.

I haven't had a chance to watch ep9 yet due to work and it looks like the earliest I'll see it is this weekend. Ugh!!! I need my weekly dose!!!!!!

I have another update on Shosuke, Grifis. I think we should start a thread for him under the Actors forum. Since we have so much to say and gush about him. Heh.

Oh yes, Kato Masaya is starring in Kira Kira Kenshui as Yamasaki Hidehiko (probably a pharmaceutical salesman) but I have no idea how big his role will be. http://www.tbs.co.jp/kirakira-usako/story/
