Latest news - Tangren will be partnering with Japan's NHK to produce
    http://ent.people.com.cn/GB/12906612.html

I know they partnered with Huayi to produce Young Warriors and with Orange Sky Entertainment to produce Chinese Paladin 3. Now with the Japanese? Interesting and strange bedfellow, considering that YH just finished filming an anti-Japanese series.

Tangren has created a new wei bo for 步步惊心:
    http://t.sina.com.cn/n/电视剧步步惊心

Mainland fans stormed YH's wei bo in furious protest upon hearing the news that NHK will be Tangren's production partner for 步步惊心 (anti-Japanese sentiments in Mainland are still high due to recent brawl over fishing boat collision at Diaoyu islands). Chinese media picked up on the storm.

Tangren clarified that NHK is coming in just as a major investor. Creative direction and choice of actors will be at Tangren's discretion.

Double-edged sword I must say. NHK is Japan's main and biggest broadcaster, so with this, lady boss K has ensured broadcast of the series to a very affluent audience. Sure, Mainland audience is HUGE with 493 million TV households in the country - even an unsuccessful TV series in Mainland can guarantee millions of viewers. But China's population is still largely rural. Japan's population is rich and sophisticated.

But I just saw TV news of numerous anti-Japanese protests in Shanghai. Really poor timing for making such an announcement. From what I've been reading in some Chinese sites - how can you call yourself "Tangren" (which kinda translates to "Chinese people") when you are l*cking Japanese a**?

Avatar for Bu Bu Jing Xin No announcement on the cast yet, so they are making do with this for now.

OMG! Oh dear! I thought Huayi was interested to come in? Why did she choose to go with NHK instead...more money ah because Japanese yen so strong?! It's gonna be so weird to partner with the Japanese.

Some people sighted YH at Shanghai Expo's Saudi pavilion, took pics and put them up all over Baidu and Tianya.

I wonder if he knew he was being photographed...but looks like he just went about minding his own business. Heh!

Is he wearing a bra or what!! This person took such a close shot of him and he doesn't seem to care?!!

How long ago were those pictures?

He still had the chubby face It's nice to see him as the "norm", instead of having his "peeps" follow him like other celebs. He's so carefree...

I probably wouldn't recognized him even if he bumped into me!! LOL.

These photos were just put up on Baidu last week. He's wearing the same shoes that he wore at the Tian Ya Zhi Nu press events in August. So looks like he didn't succeed in losing much weight I know Karen has been asking him to lose weight for his new role, hahah!

Oh my gosh! Really?! Wallace Chung might be in this series, too??? Any idea what role he would be playing if he does end up in this series? It would be my dream come true to have both Wallace Chung and Yuan Hong in the same series! It would be like holding onto two ice cream cones and taking turns licking each of them!

I think someone previously posted that Yuan Hong looks chubby in the face when he's off screen, but when he's on screen, his face seems more sculpted and slender. Well, that may have something to do with makeup and contouring and the effects of camera angle to make actors look good. Regardless, I still think Yuan Hong is hot!

Yeah, it's pretty exciting. But I really don't fancy the baldie look on YH or Wallace.

    Hair is going, going...gone...

I was reading a book about the 1911 Revolution. I don't get why so many Chinese men protested when Sun Yat Sen demanded they cut off that awful Qing pigtail.

    See what I mean?

YH's head will look even rounder with his chubbier face. From what I see on his wei bo, he still can't curb his appetite.

News from Baidu about the copyright issue:

Yu Zheng lost out to Tangren in buying the copyright for "Bu Bu Jing Xin". So he wrote a new screenplay "Jade Palace Lock Heart" which is copied from a combination of plotlines from "Bu Bu Jing Xin" and another novel "锁心玉下载". Yuan Hong will be the main lead of "Bu Bu Jing Xin" and filming will commence by year-end. Due to a copyright lawsuit, Karen and Yu Zheng had a big public fight over the Internet.

"Bu Bu Jing Xin" is a novel set against the Qing dynasty which became popular over the Internet. Tangren's adaptation will be directed by Li Guo Li and will bring together a young team of actors. Preparations are now in full swing.

From the TV productions that I saw, his acting skills are very good, especially the expression of his eyes - when fierce really fierce, when gentle really gentle.

That's Yuan Hong's trait alright!!! Love his eyes.....so deep and intense, makes me melt!! LOL....

I think by the time they film the series, he should lose his baby face fat..LOL

Xiaolong, have you seen any videos of the recent promotional event for Tian Ya Zhi Nu?? I heard Yuan Hong, Liu Shi Shi, Janine, and Edwin were supposed to get together for this event on the 15th of this month?

Think it's been postponed because of schedule conflicts. But it's now showing on NHK and Zhejiang Satellite TV. Actually, I wonder why they bother since everything is on the Internet. For NHK, the version being shown is probably Japanese-dubbed/subtitled. Zhejiang is an international channel, so hopefully there's English subs? Yay!

Well, probably because not many people(elders and people without internet?) will have a chance to see it. Besides, I'd prefer to see something on TV instead of a computer screen...hehehe.

Promotions will get people hyped for the series....look what it did to CP3. I have never seen so much promotion for a series.

Well, CP3 was a co-production with Orange Sky Golden Harvest Entertainment which is like BIG and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. So probably has a much bigger marketing/PR budget?

Tian Ya Zhi Nu is Tangren's own production, and so is Strange Hero, so I guess we can't expect a lot of promo events for these two. Tangren is tiny compared to Orange Sky and probably runs a tighter operation. And if Karen can successfully sell the series to NHK and Zhejiang Satellite TV without need to spend money on additional promo events, why not?

We'll see how co-production with the big and rich NHK will impact the marketing of Bu Bu Jing Xin.

Are you referring to this incident?

那后来她们都“yes we do”了吧?

Basically during the end of filming dinner with the Tian Ya crew, all the women surrounded YH to force him to propose marriage to all of them (after he pointed out wryly that the other guys in the series got to film a wedding ceremony but not him). And he said shouldn't all the women reply "Yes we do"? Subsequent wei bo entries were joking about this incident.

    Then there was this entry:
    @蔡艺侬:上一刻,我们都绝望了,以为已成定局﹗萌生退休的念头越来越鲜明﹗没想到,再一次峰回路转,下班 之前我们终于通过各个关卡,完成了不可能完成的任务,天涯织女在最后一刻获得上星审查批件,在最后一刻被浙 江卫视重新编排于明晚播出,非常感谢所有为这件事付出努力的人﹗

Karen's really happy that she sold Tian Ya to Zhejiang Satellite TV. Apparently it's a real big deal for her as Zhejiang TV is the most profitable TV station in terms of ad revenues. But I still can't figure out why people bother. I stopped watching real TV a long time ago because I can preview all the latest series on the Internet. If I like the series, I buy the DVD and watch it at my own pace. Isn't that better?!!

I saw this on his wei bo:

Honestly I wouldn't recognise him in real life even if I was sitting in the same restaurant.
