9 Yin was infamous in LOCH and portions of it showed up in the Ancient tomb as well in ROCH.

In HSDS, you had Gwok Yuan, Gwok Seung, and Z3F show up and they were all in ROCH. Although, the relationship isn't as strong as LOCH to ROCH. You also had at the end of ROCH the 9 Yang manual (hidden inside the sutra) show up in HSDS. I'm not talking about just the martial arts, but the actual written manual.

Anyway, no one from DGSD showed up in LOCH nor were there any martial arts manuals showing up from that era.
Didn't he write DGSD afetr the two condor stories?
It's pretty hard writing on thing then implementing that into a prequel timelined book a few years later.

No, Jin Yong followed up with those projects. ROCH came right hot on the heels of LOCH (I'm not sure, but I think it was one of those deals where LOCH ended one week and ROCH started the next in MING PAO DAILY). There was a gap between ROCH and HSDS, however, because I think Jin Yong went ahead and did FLYING FOX OF SNOWY MOUNTAIN between the ROCH and HSDS projects.

I meant as continuing expand more stories to the established characters such as Guo Jing and Yang Guo.

Guo Jing and Huang Rong to an extent was expanded in ROCH but the main focuse were on the new characters, while the older characters from LOCH get less attention.
I don't think Jing Yong could write much else interesting about characters Gj and HR etc, unless they meet some other tough foes and have their martial arts increase some more. It was easier for him to put new adventures to the new generation of Wulin, such as YG.

LOCH and ROCH were very well structured stories in the sense that each had a very clearly defined beginning, middle, and ending. Interesting things probably *did* continue to happen to Gwok Jing and Yeung Gor after the end of ROCH, but they were probably isolated incidents rather than a new continuous storyline.

To fill the gaps, I think Jin Yong should have written some loosely connected short stories (rather than full-length novels) exploring certain characters (especially supporting characters) in depth. I think that would have worked better than another full length novel.

I think to an extent its a good thing that he stopped the novels as it is... and not overly emphasizing certain things, such as leaving things as mysteries for people to debate about.

If he were to write more on continuation to the trilogy, it may have end up with less vigour and would not have been as entertaining. Like I've heard that theres 7 books of Lu Xiao Feng from Gu Long but the books near the end were getting quite poor compared to the first 3.

People could well still say they are decent since the trilogy is so famous and its name is known everywhere.

I think there was and is enough interest in the surviving characters of the CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY and most of Jin Yong's other novels to support additional stories about them, but just not another full-length novel. A full-length novel is a pretty heavy investment for both the writer and the readers. With short stories, you still get the flavor you want without feeling obliged to swallow another full course meal.

It would work for me, anyway.

And for the similar note at the end of RoCH, he said that "Further adventures of Zhang Jun Bao and GX will be told in the story HSDS".

For some reason he didn't mention YG or ZWJ. Strange, huh.
So, it seems that JY originally planned to make GX and ZJB the heroine and hero of his 3rd installment in the Condor Trilogy but for some reason dropped it. Maybe he couldn't think of any good story to write for this pair but instead a new idea popped up in this mind, and thus, ZWJ came into existance.
That would explain the existance of the useless Guo Polo too. JY might originally have plans for him too in HSDS.

Yea short stories would be nice, then the directors of the TV productions wouldn't have to around making random plots.

That's possible, but not necessarily accurate. I think that Jin Yong knew that Cheung Gwun Bo and Gwok Seung would play important roles in the next CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY novel (i.e. HSDS), but I'm not sure that he ever intended for them to be the main characters. Someone should ask him this question at his next public speaking engagement.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Wasn't there a struggle for 9 Yin in DGSD or was that something else?

The 9 Yum Jen Ging would not be created until some years after the end of DGSD.

9 Yin was created during Song Huizong's reign, which is 1 emperor after the one in DGSD.

In shuku.net, there is a guy under the name called New Jin Yong, he wrote two novels called "9Yin9Yang" and "Chivalrous Hero Feng Qing Yang". However, these books were so bad that the comments are full of swearing against the author, much more interesting than the book itself.

'9Yin9Yang" talks about a guy named Guan Zhi Yu and he learns every single martial arts in the world, and in the end of the novel defeated Zhang Wu Ji in one palm. Also he learnt both 9Yin and 9Yang. The book is so bad that I didn't read after chapter 1 and just read the ending.

About the "Chivalrous Hero Feng Qing Yang" didn't bother reading it, but its about Feng Qing Yang's life.

If you guys who can read chinese want to read it, its at http://www.shuku.net:8082/novels/qtwxxs/dzsh/jyjy.html and http://www.shuku.net:8082/novels/qtwxxs/dzsh/dxfqy.html

Yeah lol. There were all pretty bad. Worse than the rpg's here, and a lot crappier than some of the fanfics and no originality at all. If I was JY, I'd rip him apart for creating a bad name.

The plot does sound like a bad fanfic. But the reviewers don't need to swear. I really feel sorry for the authors (who got sweared) sometimes. Those guys are too harsh.
