I listen to 'A lover’s Concerto' again. Kelly Chen's version is sweeter because of Kelly's sweeter voice and the slower song arrangement.

But, Toy's version really has soul. She sounds like she is really really in love with the guy. Very happy and very in love.

The Toys were a group...like the Supremes and the Ronettes and other "girl groups" of that era.

Forget the Britney visuals, this is Maria Conchita Alonso - La Loca. Then there's Priscilla Chan - Sha Nu. Priscilla has the sweeter voice, but Maria has more feeling.

Ok. The main singer in Toys who sings the solo and largest portion of 'A lover’s Concerto' sounds like she is really really in love with the guy. Very happy and very in love.

I can't really say 'they' sound like 'they' are really really in love with the guy. It would sound very weird.

Is the meaning of the lyrics the same as the chinese version?

I don't know whether the one you post is the same as the one I watch. The one you post, I cannot open because 'This video is not available in your country' . So, I have to look for another. The one I listen to is very suggestive leh, with all the heavy breathing and the sound effect in the middle.

I agree that Maria Conchita Alonso sings with a lot of feelings.

Haha, Aaron Kwok played the lead in the MV. He most probably was still a background dancer back then.

That's a different version. The version I linked to has pretty much the same musical arrangements, including the keyboard intro, and Maria sings in a slightly rough voice, that gets more out of control towards the end. I don't understand the lyrics of either the original or the Priscilla cover, but a loca is a girl who's slightly disturbed in the head, or at least not in full control of herself, which seems pretty similar to Sha Nu. I don't know how far the resemblance goes beyond the title though.

Here's someone miming to the original Maria version, hope it works.

    Thanks.
Agree that she sings with more feelings than Priscilla. Priscilla's version also has feelings, but, hers has more.

    Original:
Dangdut Is The Music of My Country - Project Pop

    Mandarin Cover
Wu La Ba Ha (呜拉巴哈) - Jiro Wang, Sunnie Huang, auline Lan, A Chord

Surprised that Taiwan got inspiration from Indonesian music. Music is indeed universal.
Both versions are good. I like the mandarin version better, but, the original version does have more oomph.

I just love this song's lyrics.

Angie Gold - Eat You Up

You told me once that you loved me
You said that I was the only one
It took some time but now I know
    That you're the proverbial
    (Son of a ***** now)
Messing with me wasn't wise boy
'Cos I've been around for too long
And now you're gonna pay for those lies boy
I'm gonna put you back down
    (Where you belong boy)

I'm gonna eat you up, spit you out
And run you right into the ground
I'm gonna wind you up, turn you on
And burn all your bridges right down
I'm gonna eat you up, spit you out
You'll wish you'd never come round
I'm gonna wind you up, turn you on
And run you right out of this town

You're such a fool for believing
That I'd let you two-time on me
And I know all about your deceiving
I'll pay you back, just you
    (Just wait and see now)
You thought you took me for a ride boy
I was only a part of your game
But you're nothing more than a wide boy
    You'll never do it again
    (Mister Big)

    Chorus

Now I'm not a girl that hurt easy
'Cos I was brought up to be tough
And what you've done to me doesn't please me
    You'd better watch out because
    (She can play rough boy)

    Chorus

    Heartbeats

    Original:
    The Knife

    Covers:
José González - The first time I heard this song and this version was on Bones and I was immediately hooked. This is one of the rare occasions when I like the cover more than the original.
My obsessions: Joy Division, New Order, Bones, The Office.

    大海 (Ocean/Sea)

    Original: 张雨生 (Zhang Yu-sheng)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSHoGckcsxo

    Cover: 楊培安 (Yang Pei-an)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdYCZqpWQqw

Both are good in their own style. Can't really decide which is better. Both are able to convey the feelings of the song adequetely.

Original: Jay Chou - Fa Ru Xue

Rendition: Sammy Shi - Fa Ru Xue
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIitkLHhvUY

I like Sammy's version a lot more than the original by Jay because her voice is sweeter and thus, more suitable for the soothing song. She also sings with more soul, I feel. And I like how the erhu in the background adds an extra oriental feel.

Just listened to both. Sammi Shi's rendition indeed sound better.

I like the Bonnie Pink duet one the best.

Here's another song that should sound familiar to Eric Suen's (孙耀威) fans, the original is sung by Southern All Stars. As much as Eric Suen's version is well known, his voice simply can't compare to Kuwata's, the original is much much better, both in terms of singing and arrangment.

    ORIGINAL
Southern All Stars - Namida no kiss (涙のキッス)
    COVER
Eric Suen - Ren shi ni zhen hao (认识你真好)
There's another version by Andy Hui. Very popular back then in the 90's.

    許志安 - 喜歡你是你

She actually released an album entirely comprised of Jay Chou's greatest hits. I find that I enjoy a majority of them more than their original, mainly because of the instrumentals but also because she doesn't slur like J.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate the songs on YT, but if you have an Imeem account, you can listen to some of them here: http://www.imeem.com/people/f-YKb5r/...usic-playlist/

I'm particularly fond of her versions of "An Jing" (Silence) and "Long Juan Feng" (Tornado), tracks 12 and 14 on the playlist.

    Original:
    Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow - The Rivingtons

    Covers:
    Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow - The Beach Boys

    Original:
Then He Kissed Me - The Crystals

    Covers:
Then I Kissed Her - The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys make great covers IMO. I always prefer their versions over the original. There's something about their harmony that strikes a nerve.
My obsessions: Joy Division, New Order, Bones, The Office.

"Pretty Woman" is the late Roy Orbison's signature song.

Van Halen covered "Pretty Woman" in their characteristically gonzo rock guitar style.

    Ooh, look what I found:

Jacky Cheung + David Lui Fong - 張學友和呂方合唱版《李香蘭》

Jacky is powerful as always, while Lui Fong's interpretation is absolutely sensational, and the duet is super >> goosebumps~~

Lui Fong is such a humble man.

Yeah, I totally agree. As this song is playing it made me sing along with it. Wow, nice cover done by Sammy Shi.
