Default Outcomes from an Intersports Mayhem

For pure amusement, What if we took two different sports and have them play by their own rules? For example, imagine a ping pong team vs an American football team. Probably, the football players will crush the ping pong players by jumping on to the ping pong player while the ping pong player screams after having just served a weightless ping pong ball.

Let's be imaginative and think of all the fun possible outcomes of an Intersports Mayhem. Name 2 or more sports competing against each other and what outcomes you think will occur.

    Weightlifting v Gymnastics.

I see the weightlifter throwing the gymnast in the air. But lo and behold, the gymnast turns 5 somersaults in the air with a twist and plants her feet on the ground. What's more impressive? How high the weightlifter threw the gymnast, or the difficult landing? I suggest they replace the vault with a weightlifter instead of a beam. The gymnast would be able to get incredible hang time in the air.

    Hockey v Baseball

    Two rounds:

First round: Pitcher throws to a goalie.

I say the goaltender wins, used to catching pucks, balls should be easier.

Second round: Hockey players shoots at a catcher.

Hockey pucks and baseballs, at their best whether thrown or hit, reaches over 100 miles per hour. But I guess a baseball catcher has no chance of that hockey puck coming at him.

    I think hockey wins.

    Karate v Synchronized Swimming: Underwater

I am pretty sure the Karate expert would do well. But it is in the synchronized swimmer home turf (water pool in this case). The Karate real test is whether they can catch the swimmer before they run out of air.

    Close call.

    Basketball v Soccer

I would have to say the soccer team takes this. The soccer team out numbers the basketball team 11 to 5. the soccer goaltender may able to use his hands to block shots. The basketball guy can't use his feet to kick the ball. He can only stop a soccer goal with his own hands. I take my chances with thee soccer guys guarding Shaq. Anytime Shaq bounces the ball the soccer players can kick it away.

i would say the basketball players win. the guys are bigger and can jump higher. just keep throwing the ball in the air and catching it instead of dribbling. soccer players can only score one pts where as the basketball players can score 2 and 3s, and if foul they can even get as much as 4 pts a shot. 100+ pts vs 10 goals if lucky. thats still 100 pts to 10 pts.

i think this thing depends on which sport can get the most points in a single score. From what i see football players can win becuase they can tackle people and can score 6 pts everytime they score. i dont see any sport where you can get more than 6 pts. tennis maybe but after Ace you get back to just 1 pt.

But where did PJ mention anything about points? In sports like swimming vs track and field, how would you determine what sport wins?

If in your case, you are talking about who scores more, then yeah, probably football wins. But then, what sports scores the most points, would that be bowling then?

    Tennis -vs- Swimming

The swimmer jumps in the water, the tennis player throws a ball, hitting the swimmer on the head. Swimmer faints.

    Tennis player wins.

    Hockey vs Basketball.

I think Hockey players would win at both basketball and hockey if both sports were played on skates. I would love to see NBA players trying to jump and slam dunk on skates, but doubt 99.99% of them can do it (maybe Steve Nash is that .01% j/k ).

    golfers vs poker players

hmm ima go with poker players b/c some poker player are actually pretty buff and i mean most of the human population looks more athletic than golfers

basketball players vs football players (american)

ima go with basketball players b/c they play w/o protection. and i mean an average nba player's height is like 6'5 as oppose to most nfl players at 5'10. and basketball players are just more athletic. sure some fooball players are fat and large, but they cant out run any basketball players. and the ones that can out run basketball players (wr, cb, fs, ss, kick returner, kickers) are usually bony and not as muscular as nba players.

figure skater vs boxer. boxer would lose balance on ice, and the figure skater is not only agile, but has those deathly blades on her feet. figure skater wins.

curling vs sumo wrestling. this is a tough call. the curling guy could slide his ...curling rock(?) at the sumo wrestler and he would fall. but then the sumo wrestler could fall and crush the little curling guy. i say sumo wrestler wins.

or...maybe since the sumo wrestler is scantily clad, he wouldn't be able to withstand the cold and lose automatically.

hmmm.....let me ponder this a little longer.

Well, what is your sport for golfers and poker players then? A fight? If so, remember, if it goes hardcore golfers have 8 clubs to choose from and some golf balls to throw, what do poker players have? Decks of cards and table chips?

Golfers win in a hardcore match...if your sport is fighting.

This is really easy win for football players. Anything basketball players do is considered a foul while football players can tackle. 6 points each time for the football players. And if a basketball player tackles a football player, personal foul on the b-ball player.

If the ice is used as home turf and they have a time limit, I would go with the figure skater.

They are too fast for boxers to chase. The boxer only had 3 minutes to knock out the figure skater. If the figuer skater can remain punch free for 3 minutes, that deserves a couple 5s and 4 everywhere, enough for them to win.

It is a classic the uncatchable versus the unavoidable. Can the skater escape for 3 minutes, can the boxer catch the skater within 3 minutes?

Lunar, I think you are thinking everything is a fight. I think the original poster intended is if we combined the sport somehow, who would win.

ah lol, i thought it was just a melee brawl between the sports people, then i take back my golfer and basketball ones, but i still believe boxers can annihilate skaters i mean skaters are twigs. its like ants running from godzilla "u can run, but u cant hide bwhahahahahahahaha" u know dont forget boxers have amazing agility and speed too, they dont have to have ice skates on, so they can still walk on ice, which really isnt that hard. if ice skaters were to use their ice blades, they would be stationary and a boxer can easily punch 1 of them to death.

Yes, I assume that the boxer has bad balance running on ice. So it might be hard to catch the figure skater.

But if the boxer has any kind of balance while running on ice, and can catch the skater, that skater fate is doom.

First, boxing rules, the skater goes down, bad thing. Figure skating rules, falling on the ice, more of a bad thing.

Doesn't Duan Yu seem like a perfect choice to take the figure skating as a sport. He probably be doing quintuple toe axels or something.

    Here is a new scenario:

NASCAR driver -vs- American Football player

Footballer runs as fast as he can towards the NASCAR, which races at the lightning speed of 200 miles per hour towards the footballer. They clash, and one of them was sent into the air flying 20+ zhang out.

    Guess which one?

in that case, wouldn't basketball win? 50 point football games are pretty rare (unless it's a total mismatch) but 100+ point basketball games are pretty common.
