Default Fatal Contact - Wu Jing

This is out in SG now. The fight's fantastic and much better and more realistic than Dragon Tiger Gate.

Style supposed to be based on Sanda:

Was this released long ago in China?
If it was then I might as well pop into one of the many million DVD shops around here on the streets.

The version that I'd bought was a SG licensed release. Seems it never made it to our local cinemas but was released straight for home videos.
However, this is a very new movie release.

Just a note of warning about the sad ending.

The fighting's really great and resembles Tom Yam Goong style of no-rules.

I just finished seeing this movie. The ending was depressing!

Actually, the entire movie was depressing. I was hoping that it started off slow... but it never picked up. One bad thing after the next kept happening throughout the entire movie!

I mean, you have one depressed prostitute, one hypocritical prostitute, a friend that just bails out (possibly when he was needed the most), and a hero who changes from super nice guy to psychotic killer. Apart from the fighting scenes, the plot was just total crap.

    Overall, I'd give this movie a 4/10.

You should watch Johnny To's new movie The Exiled.

If it's anything like Fatal Contact, I think I'll pass

Actually, I was planning to see it just because it's produced by Johnnie To, and I happen to like his films (the few that I've seen anway) but I heard it has a terrible ending as well.

It's a typical To' production and it does have a bad ending.

It's actually a HK trend to have crappy ending where either all die or almost everyone died. Supposed to be more realistic. Same for SPL where the unedited version ended with Donnie Yen being pushed off the building by Samo Hung.

I only liked his SDU (?) movie. Very atmospheric.
