    Australia on top????

Yeah, like that's going to happen now that they lost to Iraq!

I think China has a good chance of winning.

I'm not surprised; since China could beat Malay. China sucks (and no offence to the chinese. Im chinese myself.)

But it seems china has improved but I dont think they can win.

It's Malaysia, at least get the name right. Malay is an ethnic group within Malaysia.

not enough rice then, poor Malaysia, heads will rolled...
No amount of rice is going to help them against Iran. They'll need something like Liang Ziwong's snake blood.

The problem is, not enough heads will roll. As usual...

some of us actually betting 6-0. we are not being bad or what, but hey, we do know our malaysian football team, dont we, dont we all?

btw, off topic but still sport, lee cw improved considerably and wong ch past his prime, still rocks in china . dont you agree, my friend?

    Galvatron,
You think? At this point in time, it's a cert.

Then again, Malaysia shouldn't even be in the competition. They didn't even have a glimmer of hope if they had to qualify the ordinary way.

    Sheraldine,
6-0 seems to be a bit on the conservative side. How about 7-0?

As for badminton, I'm delighted. At this rate we might have a chance at the World Champs. WCH doesn't have to win, it'll help if he can clear the way for LCW. Even yo-yo pair Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock put up a credible performance. Now if only KKK-TBH get their act together...
I think we better take this to the badminton thread.

now, now... you are being bit on the conservative side. i say they are no hope at all for they are not even playing football, just waterball

i really hope Aust dun make it out of the knockout stage. xD

Mind you, i do root for them in the World Cup BUT just not in the Asian Cup.

O.o btw Aust needs to win 2 or more goals against Thailand in order to go through.

Geez, Korea lost -> dats not good news at all.

And China needs to win or draw against Ubekistan in to go through, unless Iran lose to Malay which is very very very highly unlikely.

4 or more goals. Thailand's goal difference is +2 and Australia's is -2. That's 4 goals. I'm rooting for Thailand.

Also hope Vietnam and Indonesia go through.

Really, what's it with all this Malay business? 'Malay' is not a proper short form for Malaysia, unlike Aus/Aust/Oz for Australia.

    Malaysia tak boleh.

The vice president of the Football Association of Malaysia even resigned because he was ashamed of the national team - made the front page news too.

    Sheraldine,

How much are you betting? and more importantly, how are you betting?

Well, Australia did beat Thailand 4-0 to go through.

Boy did Thailand suck. Going into the match with the goal of "don't lose by 4 and you'll go through" and they still couldn't do it. Shows you the gap in quality between the sides.

Korea and China are both in trouble too.

Still can't get over just how bad Thailand was. They were only down 1-0 going into the 80th minute and if that held up, they would have still gone through. So of course they let in 3 goals in 10 minutes and crash out. My mind boggles and I'm not even Thai!

Football saja tak boleh ke? I could think of quite a few others - athletics, swimming, basketball... but none as embarassing as football.

Then there's the sports in the kadang-kala boleh category - bowling, cycling, diving, hockey, weight-lifting, boxing. This category is of course, dependant on the level of the competition.

The only Malaysia boleh sports are probably badminton and squash (thanks to Nicol). Maybe lawn bowls (if that's a sport) and rhythmic gymnastics.

Malaysia memang memang boleh in cakap banyak. Turn it into an Olympic sport and we're guaranteed a gold medal.

At least he has the grace to accept some responsibility. Unlike the president.

Phew, Oz won by another 2 goals in the last ten minutes!

Do you guys get live broadcasts of the Asian Cup at your place? They only broadcast the World Cup down here. I like to live in the moment.
