    Default Donnie Yen

I just watched Seven swords the Movie with Leon Lai and liked Donnie's role in the movie. What do you guys think of him? He surely does not look 43.

he is indeed one of the best hk actors for me! n i agree he does not look 43! have u seen SPL (sha po lang)? he was awesome in there!!!! i am going to watch dragon tiger gate soon...i pressume it wil also be good...even donnie's older series n films were also great...he can be cool as a hero or as a baddie...

    older sereis:
    kung fu master
fist of fury ( with joey meng...pretty disappointed they broke up...)
the dragon inn (he was a baddie there)
    Shanghai night (also a baddie)

    newer shows:
    Hero
    SPL
    7 swords
    dragon tiger gate

I haven't seen fist of fury, but I really like him paring with joey. Could you give me a brief summary about their relationship in the series.

Secondly, what is dragon tiger gate about?

fist of fury (1995) was a remake of bruce lee's version. donnie is a chinese n joey is a japanese. it was during the time wherein the japanese are taking over china n donnie plays the 'chinese hero' role while joey is the daughter of 'the evil japanese head'....so u can kinda guess the storyline..

havent seen dragon tiger gate, still in line for my lists of movies to watch soon

i love donnie yen too! as you can tell from my sig. not love as in crazy but i love his work and he's pretty hot.

one of my favorite movie of donnie is his first "drunken tai chi". that's a classic! he looks great in there too. of course, he was only 25.

i've seen just about everything with him in there except dragon tiger gate that i haven't managed to get my hands on yet.

Are you talking about Kung Fu Master with Donnie? I heard the retail dvd version came out on 4 dvds in English and Viet dubbed, but there were a lot of scenes cut. I don't know who's bright idea it was to cut crucial moments out, but that person is an idiot. Why butcher the series to release on dvd? Pretty pointless.

I wanted to buy the dvd since the picture and audio quality were great (from what I heard), but the series wasn't complete. Instead, I had to get the series on vcd and then reburn it on dvd. Took days to reformat .

aww...really? I agree. Some movies usually get cut for some odd reasons. Like some that i have. I really hate it when they do that too. Cuz it ruins parts of the plot. Well, at least you have the completion of the movie now rite? I don't yet...is it gonna be a good ending? oh, don't tell me. I wanna find out for myself

You watch your chinese series in Chinese lanuage, or dubbed in another language. Cuz me, although I'm part Chinese, i don't understand a single word they say..well, except if they say number one "ee" Thats all i know I watch my series in Cambodian dubbed.

i realy wanted to tel u the ending but since u asked us not to, i wud try my best to remain silent i watched it in mando. there r some parts i didnt understand n had to ask my dad for help...but i realy prefer watching original versions, sub is of my preference rather than dubbed...(but unfortunately, no subbed dvd is available so i was not able to see it in canto, which, i think, is the original version).i already forgot some details since i watched it a decade ago...but i bought my own copy now! have to find time to rewatch the whole thing!

heheh...yeh, don't tell me the ending pleez. i wanna find out by myself. I wish i could understan Mantonese and Cantonese...cuz then, i can just buy the movie offline and don't have to wait a long time for it to be dubbed. Cuz, sometimes..when the dub the movie, they don't really have a good voice for the person. It doesn't go or something like that. And i hate it when that happens. Makes the movie kinda weird or something.

yea it wud be beter if they had donnie yen dubbed it in eng coz he speaks good english! but i doubt it since it wud be way too expensve to ask him to dub it agen they probably wud get some other dubber who wud end up sounding like those dubbers in bio-man n shaider japanese action series!

donnie yen is actually from where i live (boston). i guess that accounts for the good english. his mom actually lived in chinatown for the longest time. there are tons of old stories about him from the chinese ppl who've been here for decades. my fav is the one about him picking a fight with a bunch of white guys. he thought he was gonna bust out some kung fu on them, but he got his butt kicked. don't know if it's true, but that's what ppl say. he's not known as a very nice guy. for one thing, his mom still lived in subsidized chinatown housing for years after he had "made it big" in hk.

could it be that his mom likes the old house in chinatown?
