In terms of fame, Zhao Wei has shot the most to fame...but i don't think she's a one-hit wonder. Her other performances were strong, or at least above average, even if her best performance was HZGG.

There's a big difference between what's known as an actress' breakthrough role and someone who's a one-hit wonder. Although I don't think highly of some of the actresses on your poll, I don't consider any of them a one-hit wonder.

one hit wonder usually means that a person had one song/album and is never heard of again.

but when applying it to actresses and acting, those listed above have had more than one role, so they wouldn't be one-hit wonders because they are still acting/have had mulitple series. .

that is true. i guess in this case we have to just go by which actress got the most recognition for one role, then was remembered for that role forever even though they've moved on and done other roles.

i picked carman lee, because when i talk about her i'm always reminded of ROCH and her role as XLN. i can't see her in other roles besides XLN. i've seen the other actresses in other movies/series then the one listed above and they're characters from the ones listed above didn't come back to me as hard as carman lee's XLN.

XLN, yes because the story is well-known.

but i doubt the princess or xyz's characters would just make anyone famous. it's definitely the actresses and their abilities to portrayed their characters well that appeals to the audience, thus making them famous.

I concur. The success of HZGG was unexpected...you could lsay that playing Xiao Yan Zi and the other characters in HZGG III might've given Huang Yi/Ma Yili a boost, but it wasn't as popular as HZ1 and 2. However, with ROCH, success is anticipated, so getting cast in a Jinyong remake (particularly one of the Condor Trilogy) boosts your fame a lot.

On the other hand, I still don't agree with your two definitions of 1 Hit Wonder.

LYF isn't a one-hit wonder. People started noticing her as the vase Wang Yu Yan in DGSD 2003. Following that, she starred in Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan, which was pretty popular. Then she was cast as XLN in the highly anticipated ROCH 2006.

Barbara Yung aka Weng Meiling, kind of. Best known for "Huang Rong," but died at the peak of her career. And you know, after you die, life moves on and your popularity obviously drops. So really, all people have in their minds is the impression of "Huang Rong," which is considered by many as the best and ultimate Huang Rong.

they can't make any better series than that(hzgg and roch1995). they make keep movie and series, but none of them big success.

I voted for Ruby. She did good in HZGG and I really liked her in there but her series and movies after that didn't really impressed me. I actually think that Vicki has been doing pretty well for her self after HZGG, she won countless awards for many of her roles in many tv series and movies like A Time to Love and many others. Alyssa has had many other series over the series too.
