No, actually you are. What pisses moderators off are members who flout the rules and respect for fellow members as if this forum were their homes.

The Administrator does not select members who don't demonstrate good judgment and self-control to be moderators. Therefore, members who consistently create conflict aren't going to be viable candidates.

Which is also why those who are selected to be moderators are those whom the Administrator trusts to be interested in the duties for the right reasons: moderators must be sincere in their desire to make SPCNET a discussion forum of high standards.

He's received several warnings and temporary bannings for infractions before. Finally, the moderator crew decided after his latest violation that we had extended him enough second chances. His promises to better conform to forum standards were not kept. Therefore, the moderators agreed to end his posting privileges.

Nobody's asking you to. Why are people hung up on this?

The moderators don't expect or want to be treated as royalty. All they ask is that everyone, mods and regulars alike, are treated with courtesy and respect.

The problem comes from the fact that there are members out there who don't want to do even that much.

Think of it this way --
No one thanks you now for what you do (primarily provoking people).
No one will thank you when you're a mod.

    No loss there.

Thus, I still nominate you as moderator...since strife has been banned, you and dragonite

considering the fact that we're not picking any new mods anytime soon, no thanks.

and we don't usually ask for nominations either. it's not a popularity contest.

is he banned for good or temporary only? im guessing, was he banned because of the thread " Most pissed off posts'?

The current moderators are all first-generation mods, meaning that they are the moderators that SC chose a few years ago when the forum traffic became too heavy and she too busy to personally oversee the forums day-to-day. She therefore selected a group of regular forum members who had a proven track record of good judgment, reliability, and accountability.

The moderator group you see today has been stable and consistent. There has been no substantial turnover and we have not recruited any new moderators for years. There might come a point when SC decides to recruit additional moderators to supplement those who have become too busy in their offline lives to perform their duties, but that's entirely up to SC.
Man, are you serious? So all the times I've wasted dancing on the webcam for you, I could've done that for SC instead, as you have no say in promoting a member to moderator?

Have a quick question...if you're banned, are you still able to login to your account and PM other members (w/o posting on the forum itself) or is communication permanently broken?

I have no idea. Would anybody like to volunteer for a 10-minute banning so that we can test out these functions?

OK. The current forum time is around 3:00 p.m. on the West Coast (where I am). I'll release you at 3:10 p.m. PST. Then, you can report back to us what kind of results you got.
