On 24 November 2006, Eight Peaks (production company of Goong), confirms that the true sequel of Goong season 1 will probably happen in the future! According to Eight Peaks, the original Manwha is still on-going. In fact, they just published the 14th volume (rumor said that the author wanted to end it in volume 12 or something). The production company wants to film the sequel, not the spin-off like the Goong S. In fact, they have already begin the preparations necessary for the sequel since two months ago. And according to the company, the true sequel will air in late 2007 or early 2008.
    ......

Yes I've read this in the Goong page too. Looks like nothing solid yet. I was just wondering why Shin the actor was not mentioned. Any one can summarise what the manwa is all about after Macao?

    An update.

The show is a total flop in Korea, with the ratings nose diving each episode.

That could be said the same thing for Goong 2.

:| At least watch -all- of the episodes w/o any biases before making any judgements. Also, even though ratings are low, it's the most popular series being searched and rewatched online.

The original Goong wasn't perfect either. The cast wasn't that great at acting and plot was dragging.

The cast worked hard on this series. They even spent Christmas day on the set and Se7en was hospitalized for overworking so much.

If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say it. Criticisms of the show are already obvious and known. So, go bash somewhere else.

Finally, got to watch the first episode... Like Goong's first episode, this one was okayyy, but nothing more... I didn't like Goong at first when I watched it, but I ended up being hooked later on... So maybe the same thing will happen with Goong S... I won't give my verdict before I watch some more episodes...

Excuse me, who do you think you are to tell me to go here and there?? This is a forum, do you understand what that means?? If you say that Goong S is good then so be it. It's your opinion and many others including me wish to think it's not good with or without watching it. o Surely your freshman year professor must have defined what a forum is!!

Let me tell you, go learn some etiquette on using the forum before spewing your ...whatever.

^ Sorry, I may have overracted. I've been seeing too many insults on Goong S in other places. I'm not saying Goong S is greatest or anything like that. Both series have their flaws and good marks too and I am getting impression that most Goong fans don't see it that way. They're placing a lot of expectations on this series w/o having an open mind.

I just hope people don't rely on ratings and bad reviews to make their final decision about the drama. People tend to change their mind after watching.. The first few episodes starts of slow, but the recent episodes have improved quite a bit.. this where the story really unravels..

-Constructive- criticism is okay.. but insulting criticism ends up with bashing..

Look I'm not looking for an apology here, may be it's ungracious, but you have to understand that people will not have the same opinion as yours. Who are you to decide what's constructive criticism and what's not? Some people may just want to condemn a show based on their friend's or some reviewer's comments, so it's their loss if the show is good. What makes you the official basher or the keeper of Goong S?

My suggestion is state your opinion and if you try 'bashing' others, you won't get away with it. You seem to be new to SPC forums, go through the threads, 99 % of the people have manners. You could try the open debate section to 'overreact' to any thing. Most of them seemed to do it. But not the K/J drama section. Or better still have your own blog?

Actually, I've heard that the show has actually improved compared to the beginning, so maybe I'll give it a try, because I only watched the first 2 episodes.

Exactly what Bella25 said. This is a forum, we have an option to voice an opinion, good or bad we can state it. And we should not get attacked for our opinion. Even if a drama is superbly done with the perfect cast and storyline, there is going to be at least one person who will disagree with you. If YOU can't stand other people's opinion, maybe you shouldn't read it. You can go ahead and love or hate a drama but don't attack other people personally. It's a no-no in this forum, unless you know that person well enough to joke with them.

I only watched up to episodes 2 and kinda stop because something was missing for me. But since it's improving I will get back to it.

    Whoa!!! that's mean....

well, i guess that would be the disadvantages of series having 2nd parts... or in this case trying to have a second part.
What the heck, i'll just watch it because of Seven...

Honestly, i wasn't that much impressed with Goong. I only wanted to watch it to know the difference in story between the drama and the manhwa which is still on going...

up to what episode did you watch???

Prince Joon : Kang Doo(Equivalent to Prince Yul in Goong, but not really)
Shin Seryung : Park Shin Hye(Equivalent to Min Hyorin in Goong)

Synopse : A Chinese food delivery boy becomes an overnight crown prince and gets to live in palace amid a conspiracy to eliminate him.

Impresssion : This is a very very different series from Goong, not as good and pretty as the original. Kang Hu(Seven) is not an equivalent to Prince Shin of Goong; he is in fact the male version of Chaekyung, a clumsy delivery boy who is called to become the crown prince amid the lack of a heir; the queen is single and has no kid.

Interestingly, we have second Chaekyung named Yangsooni, Kang Hu's equally clumsy elementary school classmate(and the probable love interest?) who is in the palace as a servant intern. Together, these two clowns are trying to survive the daily life in the palace. This lack of Prince Shin character is really a let down, as the contrasting chemistry between noble Prince Shin and clumsy Chaekyong is missing in this series. Imagine two Chaekyungs bickering, and you see this isn't funny.

As for Prince Yul fans, you too will be dissapointed as Prince Joon is no Prince Yul; he looks more like a construction worker pretending to be a prince than a noble prince. Basically there is nothing to like about Prince Joon's character as he is kinda evil and is not a victim of circumstances like Yul was, drawing no sympathy from female audiences.

I am not sure how many Min Hyorin fans are here, but Shin Seryung is no Min Hyorin. While the actress playing the character(Park Shin Hye) is a seasoned veteran actress, her acting is the worst to date.

Supporting Imperial Famility members(all new) are as unconvincing as the lead cast of Goong S.

As for the picture, this drama's set(different from Goong) feels smaller and is not as colorful as the original. Whereas Goong felt like a movie, this one feels more like a typical Korean drama. Music feels "cheap" too. Must be on low budget or something.

Anyhow, I feel sorry for Goong fans who had a high expectation for this series. But it just isn't as good as the original series.

Goong S just hit the new record low in rating. At this rate, it stands to become the lowest rated drama of 2006~2007.

i only watch the first 3 episodes of this and its not too bad so far.
i'm finding it more amusing than tvb series lately.
but i think its more i that i love the scenery and the colorfulness of the set.

Just finished watching eps. 14... The progress of Goong S is pretty slow especially on the relationship of Lee Hou & Yang Soon, the 2 are so draggy on their feelings, no spice or sparks whatever. It's no wonder the ratings is so low in Korea but overseas response is pretty good I think.
(The female lead looks alot like Kim Tae-hee, thought I always see KTH but it's not her! )

Not that I find the drama bad, but it's pretty boring in my pov. I really try to watch it but in the end, I find myself forcing myself to watch the next chapter (that's not it suppose to be... ) So I stopped watching it entirely because it's dragging too much, it doesn't have the comedy (which I enjoy) and I don't really like the new actors/actresses. Although if I'm bored, I look at the end clip of that chapter bc it has the clliffhanger into the next chapter. Don't get me wrong, I like listening to Se7en's songs and find it great and all, but his acting is medicre (to ME, in my pov so don't go criticize me here LOL ). The lead actress also bothered me in some way and I find her acting somewhat "unnatural". She doesn't really seem like a maid, especially when she changed into her regular clothes Some people can act, some can sing, some can do both, some can't do either...so se7en's in between

There were comments I read on other forums and they were complaining why ratings were so low. They're saying why aren't people the people watching it? First of all, I really disagree with what they say. You can't force someone to watch the series if they don't like it. Else the series will end up with more criticism. So I don't see a point as to why watch any series if you don't enjoy it. It might be true that Goong1 had an effect on the audience and that GoongS just seems like a spin-off (I guess I'm one of those since I can't get over comparing the two and how they differ). AGAIN, my perspective, what about any of your thoughts?
