Default Sunflower Manual in Smiling Proud Wanderer

This is probably my own musing but why was sunflower manual never practiced by a woman, did it specifically require a castrated man = extremely low testerone levels? Was Ren Woxing being too impulsive to tear up the manual? Any benefit to Wulin to keep it around or will it cause the practitioner to become hormonally imbalanced and crazy?

The manual works around the theory of converting sexual desire and energy into inner energy cultivation. Women have sexual desire too. Although its not stated explicitly in the novel, it might be possible that a woman learning it would go berserk too. Besides, for a man, you remove sexual desire through removal of the testicals. Not too sure how you do it for a woman. Sounds like a higher risk operation for those ancient times.

Lin Xianer from the Dagger Li series had so much sexual desire, if she could learn the Sunflower Scroll's secrets without going mad, she'd be faster than the Flash.

If one can successfully convert his/her sexual energy into internal energy, why nobody successfully constructed an art which converts other types of energy (such as: anger, love) into internal power? Oh wait, Yang Guo kind of did it with sadness. And he didn't even need to sacrifice his heart to enable the conversion. And maybe Lin Chaoying concentrated all of her romantic energy and zipped it up in her martial arts or something. How fantastic.

Well. 'Lian Jing Hua Qi' is a contemporary and existing method/theory used by Qigong practitioners. I don't know of any real world Qigong theory which converts emotions into Qi though.

warlock, I think we're talking about just testosterone here. For a male, 90%+ testosterone is produced by the testes, hence most of your sex drive will be eliminated after castration. A little will remain as testosterone is also produced by the adrenal glands above the kidneys, so you can almost totally eliminate sex drive (theoretically) if you get physical and chemical castration .

Anyway, I would say it's slightly harder for a female to dig out her ovaries than for a male to chop of his testicles. Either one is nasty

Dongfang Bubai still had sexual desire . . . just not for women.
