I recently finished Shinsengumi!, Coin Locker Monogatari, and Engine. I've been following a bunch of dramas this season, but the top two have been Rinjo and Shiroi Haru. The others somehow lack originality.
I tried Ep 1 and it wasn't very exciting. I mean, I could see Fujiki charming all those ladies but his attitude towards Sachiko bothered me. Sachiko also knew she had to be wary, but she didn't really put her foot down and that didn't square with her initially no-nonsense attitude.
I went and read the synopsis on your blog and was so surprised by the change in Sachiko. It just didn't seem logical that she'd abandon a successful career for a man who blew hot and cold towards her. It was just weird. The whole thing was just weird. I don't think I'll continue with the drama, much as I like Fujiki. Frankly, I haven't really liked anything he's done after Love Revolution. This won't be the exception.
The actress who played Sachiko is quite pretty, though. Reminds me of Matsushima Nanako.

That was pretty much how I felt watching it. I couldn't understand the passion that swept them away. Or at least Sachiko. In concept yes, but in execution, I didn't buy the story of how she was so consumed by lust and yearning for this man that she could dump everything that used to define what she was just to be with him. I couldn't feel it. I wasn't expecting the screen to combustbut I was hoping for lots of emotional intensity and chemistry between the leads. Instead all we got were narrations from the voice over to tell us what she thought and why ..... I can figure that much out. Hmm ... it wasn't good.
I finished The Quiz Show 1 and like the twist at the end. Takes me a while to finish it. I start looking at Quiz Show 2 and so far.. it's ok, Sho is spooky as the MC but I dunno. I think it will be the same twist formula as QS1. we'll see.
I saw 1st ep of Boos, I like Amami Yuki, althought her role is seems similar to Around 40.
Has anyone see Mr. Brain yet? any good?

I haven't seen season 1 of The Quiz Show, but season 2 is interesting so far. I want to see how all the contestants are connected to Kamiyama.
I'm watching Mr. Brain and am not impressed 3 episodes in. I wouldn't bother with it at all if it weren't for the mystery element. Kimutaku is not all that convincing as a supposed genius. Jiro in Engine is more of his element.
Around 40 is so much better than Boss! Amami Yuki will be in another drama in autumn / winter. It's called Fumou Chitai and will span two seasons. The blockbuster of the year.
I watched Ep1 of Mr Brain and that's about as far as I could stomach. No interesting characters. Just lots of fancy stuff to dazzle and many guest stars each episode. Kimutaku is boring and hardly strikes me as a genius, just seems more logical than others or maybe sees thinks that the dense can't seem to see.
Well, because I already watch QZ1, I sort of already guess the connection of the character in QZ2, I dunno if there'll be another different twist, but as far as I see seems similar. I think Sho's character quite spooky here, but MC Tazaki from QZ1 more convincing, but I think the eye candy in QZ2 is more appealling
I'm up to ep2 of Mr Brain, I like his facial expression when he's holding back his smile, and for some reason I can't see traces of other character he played before. But I agree Engine is better, Chance too compare to Mr Brain. Although my no 1 Kimutaku series is Pride, follow by Love Generation.
Perhaps, but I like her here non the less. Oh, another drama of her, look forward for this one too.

Yeah, I didn't feel the overwhelming passion or love or anything between Sachiko and Sayama. They didn't portray this bit very well, and it seems it was crucial to future development of the characters and story, so whatever she did later on just didn't make sense to me. The narration was rather annoying as well. And the change in Fujiko (Sachiko's friend) was... well, she was creepy in Ep 1 and I thought there might be something good coming, like she knew about Sayama's dark secret and all, but eh...
I wonder how Fujiki's other drama, the soba one, is doing. Should try and get my hands on at least one episode...

I just thought all the women in the drama needed serious help. I bailed out late. I shouldn't have even bothered with that many episodes...Oh well, there are worst dramas than that.
I don't know about Soba Tantei. It sounds suspiciously wacky and flimsy. The fact that it airs so late at night means that ratings are an unreliable gauge so you just have to try it out to see how you take to it.
Rinjo's my staple for this season. It's reliably good. I just stared on Soratobu Taiya. Ep1 seems promising.
Summer doesn't seem to offer much. As is typical of that season.![]()
Has anyone here watched Bloody Monday?
I have. I'm glad I didn't saw Gokusen 3, because my image of Haruma will be change. I like his character here. The story was ok, but I can't remember why it kinda annoyed me at one stage.
My friends reckon Narimiya Hiroki is perfect as J in here, but since I was biased - I don't like him - I don't like him here.

I started watching it awhile ago, but never got around to continuing. I'll have to pick it back up sometime.
I just finished Aishiteru and it's as good as most people have said, probably the best and most moving drama this season. Part of it has to do with the difficult subject it tackles...a child killing another child and the painful repercussions for both families. It's definitely not one of those "oh, THAT same washed up topic again...bleh", nor did it feel cliché. It really makes people want to watch episode after episode in part to find out why/how a 10-year-old could commit such a horrendous act to "decide" if it could in any way be "justified." Such is human nature, I suppose. The theme song by Monkey Majik as well as background music are excellent too. One minor complaint I had was the lack of chemistry between Inamori Izumi (Satsuki) and Yamamoto Taro (Kazu). I never really felt like they were a real couple. With her sorrowful and delicate face, Inamori Izumi was perfect for the role of Satsuki, though.
I'm looking forward to the final episode of Shiroi Haru, another decent drama this season. Abe Hiroshi for best actor!Currently I'm also watching Dragon Zakura and Kuitan.
finally got my interest on Love Revolution. a lot of kissing for the normal jdorama I watched. feels weird.

I watched the first ep of Majo Saiban and God Hand Teru last night. I like Toma's character in MS, I think it suits him the best. GHT is too anime for me :P but it's ok, I get by, used to that style now. Look forward to MS now.

How did you find Godhand Teru? I watched ep 1 and I couldn't bear to go further. It was terribly made and absolutely unbelievable.
I'm watching Soratobu Tire now. I think this must be one of the top three dramas of spring if not the best drama. I love WOWOW. They can be counted on to make quality dramas that are somewhat different from the usual fare. It'll be nice to see them tackle a light-hearted storyline for a change but no complaints. They're good.
Watching Ryuusei no Kizuna and Osen.
I finished Godhand Teru already, it's bearable because it's only 6 episodes and Hiraoka Yuuta is cutewith Kaname Jun too. It's too mangaish for my taste, but I bear with it. Better than One Pound of Fukin and Bambino, I never got around to finish them.
I was surprised that Mr Brain is only 8 episodes, the rating wasn't that bad though. hm..
