Default For those wondering if Sunflower Scroll is a sword art.

    葵花寶典所記載的武學,到底是劍術還是內功?(馮麗玉)
    金庸:我想是以內功為主的劍術。

So, Mr Jin Yong thinks its a sword technique which stresses inner cultivation.

Then DFBB should definitely have done better with a sword.

DGKB said the highest sword level is no sword, so by reaching a levl where a needle can be used as a sword, DFBB has reached near the DGKB level, but DGKB is better since you do not need to castrate yourself.

I suppose this could add some fuel to the Greats vs DFBB debate.

Since YG is just at the lower threshold of wooden sword level.

even Duan Yanqing has reached a level that is comparable to the wooden sword. It's not a great big deal.

I certainly never got the impression that Sunflower Manuscript is a "sword technique which stresses internal cultivation." Is Jin Yong talking out of his anus again?

Neither did I, but it does make sense. If the manual did not contain a sword technique portion why did the the Mount Hua sect split due to conflicting beliefs on what drives ones martial arts?(IIRC according to FZ the internal strife was a direct result of diffrent interpertations of KHBD)

Yes, good point, and also explains why Monk Yuantu created a sword art based on Sunflower Manuscript.

This was why a number of us have pushed for a while the theory that the original Sunflower Manuscript was meant to be a sword art. The monk clearly understood the theory well enough and was even able extrapolate enough to make two irreconcilable halves work together. His own final (and very likely better) extrapolation after even more thought was a sword art. That makes it very likely that it would be a sword based art.

It is also clear from the very first line of both the incomplete Sunflower Manual and PXJF Manual that internal energy was highly prioritized. Unconventionally, but still the focus. It seems all that internal energy was expressed through phenomenal speed.

It definitely makes sense as it explains the Sword and Qi split for Huashan.

It also would suggest that Lin Yuantu's Bixie Jianfa got it more right then those 2 Huashan goons since Bixie was a sword technique which emphasised on inner cultivation, exactly what JY said.

I wonder if JY was referring to the _original_ scroll or the Huashan/Sun Moon version though.

Yep, regardless of the copy used, the speed associated with KHBD makes it very distinguishable from other skills. As soon as YPZ launched his attack RYY and LHC both knew that he was using the same art as DFBB....despite the fact that YPZ used a sword while DFBB used needles.(At least against LHC and others)

I wonder what would happen if you learnt both, because it was originally one whole...

It was not originally one whole. I guess the 2 are in any case similar enough that the results won't change by much.
