    so why was the site down?
    was this a planned outage?
    was the forum always running on postgresSQL? i've always thought it was mySQL...

    The filesystem got corrupted and the whole review database went missing along with random application files and forum database tables. mySQL, postgreSQL, and python had to be reinstalled and the databases restored. It was messy.

    The forum is running on mysql but review section is on postgres. Ironically, I was going to take down the site over the weekend for a few hours to merge those two databases but then this problem struck first.

    We're not totally out of the woods yet. The site is still a bit shaky...not completely stabilized yet.

    The site was just down for a while before, but not related to our server specifically. I think the whole hosting network was down since I couldn't even access the hosting company's website.

    In any case, it's time to shop for a new hosting company.
