Deun Yu vs. Yau Tan Tze: stripped of all martial arts skills!

Deun Yu and Yau Tan Tze actually had quite a bit in common in DGSD: both were nerdy scholar types who originally didn't have any martial arts skills to speak of, became blessed with great martial arts abilities thanks to some fortuitous encounters, and had a tendency to obssess over specific women (Wong Yu Yin and Ahi Chi, respectively).

Let's strip the two of (no, not their clothes) their martial arts abilities: no Bak Ming Sun Gung, Ling Bor Mei Bo, or 6 Mak Divine Swords for Deun Yu and no Yau family martial arts, Yik Gun Ging, or Sing Suk Sect martial arts for Yau Tan Tze.

So if the two nerds/woman-obssessors of DGSD were to fight it out minus their martial arts powers, who would win the fight?

Most importantly, how funny would it be to watch?

Duan Yu wins hands down, he has: 6 (Six!) artery devine swords, 1 Bei Ming Shen Gong, 1 Wave Drifting Foot techniques so in total he has 8 MA items to be excluded one by one. While Yu Tanzhi has only 2: Yoga techniques and Xingxiu Sect's MA.

YTZ has more spirit and willing to fight. DY has a better physique. Usually spirit wins or spirit dies fighting.

Minor correction: You Tanzhi was not a nerdy scholar at any point. He despised literature. He was never good at anything, although he sincerely wanted to learn martial arts.

If we take out the equation DY having that huge Dali backup, I say YTZ wins. YTZ did want to learn to fight. DY never wanted to.

2) DY gets hit, falls backwards over into a deep hole. Saved by a bush or a pool in the hole, finds some Ultra Kung Fu in the walls of the cave.

Duan Yu is more intelligent, mischievous and knowlegeable about the 4 Great Books and the 5 Classics of Confucianism, furthermore, he is an expert in Buddhism, if those 2 guys entered in a normal barehanded fight with each other Duan Yu would probably run around and read some complicated passages in those classic books, and while You Tanzhi was nonplused thinking of the meaning of the words, he would receive a heavy puch on his jaw.

After some more thinking, I still stick to my original post. You Tanzhi is _not_ going to beat a kung-fulless(sp?) Duan Yu even if he found the Marrow Washing Classic to go with his Tendon Altering Skill.

Yau Tan Tze intimidates the scholarly Duan Yu so much that Duan Yu will kowtow to Yau Tan Tze... which causes Yau Tan Tze to die of a sudden massive heart attack. Duan Yu wins!
