Default Would Shaolin have excommunicated Sweeper Monk?

Would Shaolin have banned him for the same reason they expelled Z3F's master if they found out about his martial arts?

It was never specified that Shaolin was going to expel monk Jue Yuan or ZSF. They were just supposed to be sent to the Dharma hall to be punished. However, Jue Yuan thought things would get ugly for GX and decided to run away.

So does that mean, the real reason C3F was expelled from entering Shaolin was because he "ran away" from his punishment, and not because he broke a Shaolin rule.

So he was punished for breaking a Shaolin rule. He was expelled because he refused escaped from taking his punishment.

Well, according to Shaolin established rules at the time, the punishment for secretly learning martial arts ranged from destruction of the tendons and meridians, to death.

Doesn't Sweeper pre-date the HGTT episode?

    Yes.

I think the senior Shaolin monks in DGSD were aware of the Janitor Monk's presence and quietly tolerated it. For one thing, because his martial arts were so much better than theirs, they couldn't do jack about him even if they had wanted to (the Janitor Monk could likely have singlehandedly killed every other monk at Shaolin even if they all came at him together). For another, having him around was certainly useful.

Nope. None of them had any idea of Sweep's presence, or that such a master was in their school.

I believe that SM would have allowed the other monks to punish him just as Jue Yuan allowed himself to be chained up and mute. Or why XuZhu allowed himself to be bullied when he returned to Shaolin even though he was much better than the other monks at Martial Arts.

yea right...when the monks began to beat SM with sticks they'll get blown to death due to the reflection of his force shield

Or maybe sweeper monk is a very senior monk in shaolin years ago who has withdrew himself from the outside world, which is why he's the keeper of all the books in the library.

When XuZhu got punished for his sins at the temple, he sort of "turned off" his internal chi shield. Otherwise, I think the same thing would've happened if any of the other monks tried to beat XZ- bear in mind this is the guy who took a flow blown hit from JMZ Flame Blade technique and only felt a tingle.

So I'm sure SM wouldn't put up any force fields either if he was to be punished.

at the time sweeper monk was there, there was no rule against learning martial arts secretly for shaolin mionks. besides, the abbott already released the foreign monk who stole six shaolin skills and JMZ already acquied knowledge of the 72 arts. so it was pointless to talk about any punishment. also, sweeper monk was way older then the other monks, when was it ever mentioned that he learned shaolin skills secretly. he could have learned them from his teacher. he never raised in rank because he never showed his ability and he did not care about superficial things. if anything, the abbott could have stepped aside for him, but that was probably pointless since the abbott's position is not actually the highest in the temple. the abbott deals with running the temple but the highest poisition belongs to those who understand buddhism the best and teach it.(HSDS damo hall elders held higher position then the abbott.)

There is always the technical argument that Sweeper did not secretly learn any of the 72 arts. He just acheived his powers via spiritual development.

The DGSD Shaolin did not seem to have that many rules on this subject too. When it was found that the foreign monk (can't remember his name) was secretly copying the 72 arts, they just house arrested him instead of doing the HSDS 'break your meridians' punishment.

Whatever happened to that monk anyway? Was he still chilling at Shaolin during DGSD?

They released him when his senior brother came IIRC. I think the 2 of em were edited out during 3rd edition too.

ELOC of GOD, GOD of ELOC, ELOC GOD PJ could probably remember more. Ask him.

    Huh, they got edited out?

That negotiation part just before JMZ waltzed in is pretty good.

I believe Shaolin let them go b/c even their Abbot violated rules.

They were let go because there is no longer any point in detaining them in shaolin as JMZ had claimed that he knows all the shaolin arts.
