She meets this guy who is just a "scholar" and they becomes friend. SHe always helps him because he is so helpless, but after nearly more than half the show, it turns out he's one of the LEAD secret assassin, that is very capable. 100%

watched all episodes, not bad. You seem to know your wuxia series. Wonder if you know the title of the tv series (china)with a young guy with poor kung fu who met a girl with third and fourth grandfather. I can't grasp the whole story as there was no English subs, but I remember near the end of the series several kung fu experts went to an island occupied by kungfu experts but could not solve the kungfu riddle etched on the wall. Eventually, the young guy figured the puzzle and the island exploded shortly. I think it was around 2004-2005

[Based on the posters I'm pretty sure it was the series I saw when I was in China. Thanks for the info. Do you where I could watch the 2002 series with English subs as my mandarin is not very good.

Modern. Naive girl goes to work for upscale magazine (fashion?). Handsome boss. Some attraction. Sophisticated co-worker cuts in (wants boss for herself), and girl losses job. She then goes to work for a gossip magazine operating out of the basement. She digs up gossip and secretly takes photos as part of her job. Character actor plays boss. His old girl friend is a movie star who returns from overseas.

One other detail: at one point the naive girl and the handsome boss (who is now helping her) get stuck in a pit in a tiger (lion?) preserve for several days and nights.

Any help appreciated.

This was Hua Mulan. I saw it when I was younger and liked Cynthia Khan from this series but boy was it dragging. I believe its China Series that was sold to ATV.

It was called Hoa Moc Lan in viet, but it's almost impossible to find. I've been looking for it for years.

I'm looking for a drama I watched few years ago. It's about a little girl and her uncle who's family/clan was killed by either the emperor or some royalty (I forgot, but they were rich). The uncle tells the girl to get revenge and plans her in the emperor's household, where she become a servant. She grows up and the prince and her fall in love, so she is stuck between helping avenge her family and her love for the prince. I also remember this one scene where she and the prince run away and are freezing to death in the snow in the mountains.

Hi everyone,

I currently have my father watching http://www.yesasia.com/us/the-qin-em...0-en/info.html and he loves it ALOT.

I noticed there was also http://www.yesasia.com/us/the-qin-em...0-en/info.html which they made a sequel to but the first one they didn't. Would you guys know if they are similar in terms of story and whether both won awards? D you think he would enjoy the other series as well?

Also, please let me know if you have any recommendations for any other series that are based on history (that won awards/is acclaimed).
