The comparison of martial arts levels among these different eras of Jin Yong continuity is endlessly debatable, but using Shaolin's Yik Gun Ging as the benchmark is always a bit dicey because there were numerous inconsistencies between the way that Jin Yong described the manual in DGSD and the way he described it in SPW. It's meant to be one manual, but many say that the actual details revealed in the two novels suggest two very different manuals.
