Default Post-Shaolin Heroes Conference (DGSD) Questions

Some questions regarding the Shaolin Heroes Conference during DGSD and its aftermath:

    1. After a long buildup, we finally got North Kiu Fung vs. South Mo Yung (F'uk). For a while, we had been suspecting that Mo Yung F'uk wasn't really in Kiu Fung's class as a fighter, but the people in wulin (including Kiu Fung himself) didn't know that. Going into the fight, Kiu Fung was probably anticipating the most difficult one-on-one fight of his life...against an opponent who was truly his equal. About how many strokes into the fight would you say Kiu Fung figured out, "Hmmm. This Mo Yung F'uk isn't all he's cracked up to be. I think I can take him pretty easily,"?

    2. Was Yip 2 Leung in on the Massacre at Nga Mun Gate? Was her affair with Chief Abbot Yeun Chi before or after the Nga Mun Gate Massacre? In DGSD '81, she recognized Siu Yeun San when he finally unmasked, but would she have known who he was? The only way she would have recognized him would have been if she had been among those who had taken part in the massacre years ago.

    3. Interestingly, this was the only time that all the fathers of the various young principals were all present: Siu Yeun San (Siu Fung), Mo Yung Bok (Mo Yung F'uk), Deun Yin Hing and Deun Jing Tsun (Deun Yu), and Chief Abbot Yeun Chi (Hui Juk).

    4. Why didn't Deun Yin Hing, Divine Crocodile, or Wan Chung Hok intervene on Yip 2 Leung's behalf when things started going down? "Evil" though they might have been, they had always been very loyal to each other.

    5. Siu Yeun San had murdered all those people (Yeun Fu, the Kius, Grandpa and Granny Tam, Chiu Cheen Sheun, etc.) because they all knew the secret of the Massacre of Nga Mun Gate, but refused to reveal it. OK, that's fine, but if Siu Yeun San really hated the idea of the secret being kept so much, why didn't he reveal it earlier? He could have saved his son a whole lot of grief. The gathering at Tsui Yin Manor would have been a good time.

    1. I don't think the thought of 'how tough is this opponent' goes through XF's mind. If he thought that MRF was equal to him, it didn't seem to deter him from attacking MRF+DCQ+YTZ all at the same time. I suspect XF would fight even Godzilla head on if he was angry. XF is the exact opposite of BWM in this respect.

    2. It should be after. XZ was 24 yrs old. 6 Years younger then XF at least. So the affair should be after the Yan Men Guan incident.

    3. Add in DCQ. WYY's Step-Grandfather.

    4. Nothing much to intervene. She killed herself before even Xu Zhu could do a thing. Besides, I think they were busy picking their jaws from the floor.

    5. He wanted to alienate his son from the Han wulin. So he deliberately did these things to make them accuse XF. Yes, he was a bit bonkers.

Hadn't XF already had to save MYF's *** from KMZ previously? If so, he probably already knew he was not his equal. However, even he must have realised the odds were stacked when he was 1 vs 3 in the preliminaries and then vs the rest of wulin who all succumbed to the patriotic mob hysteria whipped up by Cheun Gwon Qing (I personally expected looting to break out any second).

In DGSD '81, she recognized Siu Yeun San when he finally unmasked, but would she have known who he was? The only way she would have recognized him would have been if she had been among those who had taken part in the massacre years ago.
Could it have been that she was gasping as he looked just like XF? Or could it have been she saw his face when he abducted his baby?

Interestingly, this was the only time that all the fathers of the various young principals were all present: Siu Yeun San (Siu Fung), Mo Yung Bok (Mo Yung F'uk), Deun Yin Hing and Deun Jing Tsun (Deun Yu), and Chief Abbot Yeun Chi (Hui Juk).
    Father and son day.

Why didn't Deun Yin Hing, Divine Crocodile, or Wan Tsung Hok intervene on Yip 2 Leung's behalf when things started going down? "Evil" though they might have been, they had always been very loyal to each other.
Hadn't they already left and she returned upon seeing the marks on XJ? In any case while Evil 1 expected their help in his family matters it did not seem to reciprocate and he was usually uninterested in involving himself in matters which were not directly related to his duties as Xi Xia lackey or to do with the Dali throne.

    5. Siu Yeun San had murdered all those people (Yeun Fu, the Kius, Grandpa and Granny Tam, Chiu Cheen Sheun, etc.) because they all knew the secret of the Massacre of Nga Mun Gate, but refused to reveal it. His priority was revenge before his son. He complained about them brainwashing his son into a han chinese but he knew of the whereabouts of his son very early on and did he do his duty as a father? He was more worried about taking revenge on them and making the future abbot lose everything and destroying his family too. He had no qualms at all about taking actions which would lead to much grief and suffering for his son.

He deliberately did not step in to save his sons beloved nor ease the wrongful accusations upon his son.

The manor was like network tv awards, he wanted revenge and expose at the wulin equivalent of the oscars to satiate his anger.

They weren't that loyal to each other. When Evil #1 was about to die of fire deviation, the thought of saving him only crossed Evil #3's mind. #2 and #4 just sat there and watched.

    Here's another one:

After seeing Mo Yung F'uk, Yau Tan Tze, and Ding Chun Chou triple-team Kiu Fung, Hui Juk and Deun Yu intervened to take the heat off their eldest sworn brother. Hui Juk, naturally, attacked Ding Chun Chou...who had murdered two Shaolin senior monks and was an enemy of Mo Ngai Tze and the Siu Yiu Sect. That left Deun Yu with Mo Yung F'uk. Deun Yu, of course, had a dilemma with fighting Mo Yung F'uk; if Deun Yu injured Mo Yung F'uk, he would alienate Wong Yu Yin. In fact, Mo Yung F'uk used this fact to protect himself (by hiding behind Wong Yu Yin) when it looked like Deun Yu would blast him with the 6 Mak Divine Swords. Why didn't Deun Yu just go after Yau Tan Tze instead? That way, he could help Kiu Fung without having to possibly injure Mo Yung F'uk and alienate Wong Yu Yin as a result.

YTZ had a valid reason for fighting XF. Revenge for his dad. He stated that out loud before the fight. MRF stepped up later to challenge XF and DY felt that it was unfair, especially since XF had spoken up on MRF's behalf in the past.

MRF did not hide behind WYY! Where the heck did you dig this up from!??! The translation for the Shaolin fight was done years ago. Go have a look!

One on one, Murong Fu was subdued by Jiumozhi within seconds. The gap between Murong Fu and Jiumozhi / Qiao Feng is momentous.

The combined forces is 100% of Qiao Feng, but that doesn't mean the individuals are 50% each.

Murong Fu's techniques are probably about equal to XF, while his internal is way way lower (lower then a Xuan monk).

So in terms of internal, MRF < 30% XF while in technique MRF ~ XF

On the other hand, YTZ's internal > XF and YTZ's technique <<<<< XF

So you put the 2 of them together and you have a combined opponent whose internal and external can at least match XF.

JMZ had practised martial arts with MRB and could be considered to be his martial brother. so he well aware of MRF's techniques and is able to counter them easily. unlike other experts who take a longer time.

What exactly is the relationship between JMZ and MRB. I've seen some TV series adaption but the one i remember most is felix one being QF in the '96 one.... in that i think MRB was depicted as being a benefactor to JMZ hence he helped out MRF a few times.... if my memory serves me correctly.

That only happened in the third edition. Besides, it was Jiumozhi's incredible speed which did Murong Fu in.

In the second edition... at some point, Murong Bo gave Jiumozhi the manuals of 72 Supreme Arts of Shaolin, which Jiumozhi was very grateful to. What Jiumozhi didn't realize until it was too late, is that Murong Bo was using him in two fold: firstly, as a guinea pig to confirm the negative side effects of force-practicing the 72 arts; more importantly, as a way to provoke conflict between Tibet and Central Plains China.
